I re-read TG recently and the backgrounds are A LOT worse than I remembered, just a bunch of filtered 3d models and photographsnot as ugly as Inio Asano's backgrounds but very close

For example I did not like at all Amon and Hide coming back, and I I didn't like Mado turning traitor for that guy specifically, though I imagine it was just a lack of the author showing their relationship.

My opinion on this has been the same as since when it was coming out. TG has one of the best final arcs in any manga ever, even if you ignore :re and view it as a downer ending. However, it's pretty clear it was setup for a sequel because TG is a tragedy (as stated in chapter 1) but :re is not, so we had a lot of speculation about if/when part 2 would start after it ended.Part 2 in general is very good with the rose arc being the peak of the entire series. After that, it starts to flounder because of cast bloat/odd things happening and Ishida's inability to capture the highs of the previous arc(s), but I think after the sex scene it stays fairly solid until the end and the actual ending is good. I know it was somewhat divisive when it happened but I think most people mellowed on it after a few weeks and realized it was thematic and good closure for Kaneki's arc, it's just that the bits up until the last 1-2 chapters are really rough.
