All conflicts in the episodic stories are resolved by the party bending over to make the questgiver NPC of the episode feel better. All conflicts in the party are resolved by Fern getting exactly what she wants by being pushy and abusive. All conflicts in the longer arcs are resolved by some combination of beamspam and Frieren pulling new magics out of her tight elven ass. (Long arcs also has a bad case of "merely a setup for something cool" syndrome.)And now the author put the main cast in a situation where too much fighting is a failure condition, and which would be extremely difficult to resolve without an all-out fight even for a bunch of charismatic gigachads/natural born politicians. Even though he was consistently afraid to give Frieren's ability to understand people even a moderately difficult check before. Of course he's now in the corner.
