You really can't let things drag like that when you are a monthly shonen, that is why so much of the Railgun slice of life before this arc is anime only. Oh, it doesn't help that the 5 year long flashback arc still feels half baked. Kiyoshi catches a train to Nowhereville, Sha is paralyzed and we never find out what happened with the older sister who "died in prison" after we just went through a whole ass arc about how Espers who die in prison don't actually die in prison. Narratively it is a mess, there was obviously scope creep and then a rush to finish... the franchise.Another big problem is that the manga never found a new overarching villain since Gensei died 3 arcs ago so they've been spinning their wheels with bottle arcs. Dream Ranker was a self contained story. Jailbreaker is where the series ended timeline wise with the villain of the week defeated and Uiharu's big WTF moment and then straight to flashback town until the manga died. They had 5 years to introduce a new big bad for a Railgun finale but they decided not to do that and the series went out with a whimper. God I hope there is a sequel series and that it comes out twice a month.

It feels like part 1 of a multipart arc that never continues and had the worst asspull in the series to the point that people needed to make conspiracy theories that Uiharu is the number 6 to have it make slightly more sense.Railgun first year is awful to get through and is the biggest sin in this franchise, ending in a flashback arc. Combined with continuity errors of the final chapter with the first chapters having the same event happen with the robbers with too many differences to be the same event.
