Index is more shonen heavy while Railgun season 1 has a lot of slice of life, CGDCT episodes due to the manga not having a lot of content to go off of. If you do start Railgun first, it is best to watch Index season 1 before Railgun season 2 since the first half of the season is a retelling of an Index arc from Mikoto's perspective. As for Railgun season 3, watching Index season 3 and Accelerator season 1 is helpful but not necessary.
