Wolf Children actually commits to the passage of time. Kids grow up, mom ends up alone, life moves on. That’s not “sad,” that’s just adulthood. Way heavier than body-swap comet slop.

I watch anime to escape from the depressing real world. I do run into some sad plotlines occasionally but I don't seek out sad anime.
