The plot in this is slower but feels smoother to me. What FMA does have, and which this also has, is a strong and sizeable cast of characters who are all fairly competent at what their jobs are supposed to be. Like characters who are soldiers or gangsters act believably for soldiers/gangsters and are good at the things you would expect soldiers/gangsters to be good at. I would say that's the Arakawa special.

Glad Arakawa kinda pulled back on the brocon shit in the more recent chapters. It's actually pretty cringe hearing and seeing it in motion.

Yomi no Tsugai is not as good as FMA and thats ok, nothing Arakawa wrote after is. But Tsugai is the closest to that quality.
I don't blame the village for tricking his dumbass, instead of asking for a neutral spot to meet his sister he decides to go with the enemy who was just attempting to kidnap him. The Kagemori appears to have another faction probably led by blondie who want to use the twins like the village chief. I think I'm going to read the manga this week, I don't think I have patience of waiting weekly for the anime with all these frustrating questions that are left unanswered

If Yuru actually bothered to practice fighting with them, the way other masters do with their daemons, they'd probably be terrifyingly effective.
