Ever heard of Harris no Kaze from 1966?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harris_no_Kaze

It's like the Proto-Ashita no Joe.

And based on my spreadsheet, it's the only non-lost-media black-and-white TV anime that is still not leak on the internet. They even strategically post Episode 15 to 21 on YouTube to promote the DVDs.

I want to watch the whole series, but alas, I'm a pirate.
Not to be confused with the 1971 comedy remake Kunimatsu-sama no Otoridai available on bilibili.

How is it proto-Ashita no Joe? From what I've seen they have nothing in common other than being made by the same person.

Because the writer of Ashita no Joe is Asao Takamori. He basically uses Tetsuya Chiba's characters templates. See >>287854180

Sounds neat. Don't know Jap though.
>For many years, it was believed that almost none of the films existed except for a few positive prints, but later, all the film reels for all the episodes were miraculously discovered. A 10-volume DVD set containing all the episodes was released between May 12, 2004 and September 8, 2004. However, the audio material for episode 64, "Cactus X," is missing, so the video footage is included as a bonus feature with subtitles created from the script.
I'm a bit interested in scrounging around for the DVDs, but I can't imagine I could con someone into subbing 70 episodes of black and white anime from 1966.
Using zenmarket, I can see some DVDs. I'll just list the lowest price I see for each one.

Seems like it probably isn't actually that expensive, but the few sellers there are know that anyone buying them online will pay extra. It seems like most people just don't care though, considering how hard it is to find DVDs.
I did find a 10-disc set listing for $400~ CAD though, might buy and rip it since nobody else has, though I'd have nowhere to really host that, considering Nyaa doesn't allow new accounts and U2 is a secret club I'd never get into.

just go ask on irc, that's literally how you can make a new account

Wasn't this the adaptation that Chiba was disappointed with and which drove him to delay and be picky about Joe's adaptation?
It got a color remake in the 70s
