I heard about it from a few places. First that I remember was a huggbees stream many years ago, then a few years after that I saw it again by sorting by highest rated on f95. Didn't read anything about it, but downloaded it anyway. It wasn't until a few months later that I played it when that gigguck guy made a video about it. I didn't actually watch the video, but it got people talking about katawa shoujo again, including /v/ where I saw anons saying that it's actually really really good and heartfelt so I gave it a try and here I am now.

The writers talked about how it's funny that Kenji was written as a joke but then those kinds of people became a big, serious thing so it's like Kenji predicted them.

She's hilarious but also the most profound and insightful of the girls in a weird way. She has the quality of being the true "final girl" in that her route is intended to be played last (the same way Emi's route is intended to be the first one) since her route is the hardest and the most convoluted to get and the hardest to get the good ending on. However, I got Rin's route and her good ending on my first playthrough. I must've really resonated with her.
