Let's celebrate the countdown for the Tarnished Edition of Elden Ring with a storytime of some manga adaptations.Manga #1: Elden Ring: Distant Tales Between, is a collection of side stories about various Elden Ring characters like Patches, Rya, or Millicent. Generally comedic, it is an episodic series of stories without any real continuity between installments.Manga #2: Elden Ring: Road to the Erdtree, is a continuous comedy narrative about one Tarnished's misadventures on the way to becoming Elden Lord.Daily, starting between 1:00-2:00PM EST.Old Thread:>>287805324
Its time for the big man himself. This will be a long dump. Perhaps it isn't a total surprise, but the Radahn fight is actually played pretty straight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1ts4FP1WWM
Daughter fantasy manga hit Lionel pretty hard.
How is this dude's art so details when there's so much of it?
God bless you anon you deserve love and happiness
Let the festivities commence.

STR/INT is the best build. I've always loved giant muscle wizards. Myth has a great one with The Watcher.

This is Radahn's coolest move. It was cool to get it as an Ash in the DLC.
They put the 'we' in team!
Lucidity!
That is all for today. Quite a change of pace for the style of the manga, but a welcome one, imo. Trying to do Radahn as a joke could get clumsy, I think. So how did your first Radahn fight go? Did you summon all the NPCs, or go it alone?

>>287900284>When she willingly succumbed to the rot to nuke Caelid (young lion's armor, final Unalloyed Gold Needle) the needle would have prevented thisWe don’t know this for sure. It could be that the UGN can’t help you if you don’t let it, and her willing it is enough to open the gates. Further, she may not even have to “will” it, as such. Either way it would match better with what we see in the cinematic and Milicent’s quest. It would also explain why we never hear of an UGN being used offensively. In both of Millicent's endings the needle is removed from her, but in one case she does bloom and in the other she doesn’t, so needle can’t be the deciding factor. We know that in both cases the needle is removed from her “I took out the needle myself” line. That “myself” only makes sense if her sisters were also trying to take the needle out. Gowry and Millicent's Prosthesis give us some idea as to how one blooms, and neither mention a needle, it’s all about the personal experience of the bud.>They're all Unalloyed Gold NeedlesThen why we can’t we use the one we give her ourselves? Why do they look totally different? How come the effects of Miquella’s Needle persist even after we leave?>I'm guessing this one is named like this so that you wouldn't confuse it with the one you just gave away.If that’s so, if it’s named so for clarity’s sake, wouldn’t “Malenia’s Needle” or “Unfinished Unalloyed Gold Needle” or “Malenia’s Unfinished Unalloyed Gold Needle” be much clearer? Why, if it’s named for clarity, is it given an unclear name, confusing name?
>>287919729>which is why Millicent tells you to "return" it to MaleniaShe doesn’t say this. She doesn’t even mention the needle and Malenia in the same appearance, let alone the same sentence. She doesn’t give you the needle or anything, you just take it after she dies, and she certainly doesn’t tell you what the hell you’re meant to do with it.>There is something I must return to Malenia. The will that was once her own. The dignity, the sense of self, that allowed her to resist the call of the scarlet rot. That’s what she says. She says it in the Prayer Room, before she is attacked. She does not mention the needle at all there, does not even really allude to it, though she has no problem elaborating on what that something she must return is. She doesn’t tell us to do anything here either, in fact she explicitly mentions returning Melania’s will/dignity/sense of self/pride to her as something she must do. She doesn’t ask for our help.If you want to read Melania’s will and pride as being her UGN, you can make that stretch, but I would rather assuming it's referring to cut resolution to her question.
>>287919755It most likely was just a cut finale from the quest, but the Needle still functionally holding her essence that you take over the finish line to deliver to Malenia is very believable.
>>287914900K-pop Millicent or High T Millicent?
>>287919729>>287919755Half of your questions are directly answered by the item descriptions I referred to. The other half can be explained by "it's a game, bro". >Miquella's Needle>One of the unalloyed gold needles that Miquella crafted to ward away the meddling of outer gods. Capable of subduing the flame of frenzy if inherited, allowing one to cheat fate and avoid becoming Lord of Frenzied Flame. However, the needle is as yet unfinished and can only be used in the heart of the storm beyond time said to be found in Farum Azula. It's not called "Malenia's Needle" because she didn't craft the damn thing. It's called Miquella's Needle because it clarifies who made them in the first place. Big lore drop. It also states that they're all Unalloyed Gold Needles. And that this one is unfinished and how to solve that. Which answers your needle questions.>She doesn’t say this. She doesn’t even mention the needle and Malenia in the same appearance, let alone the same sentence. She doesn’t give you the needle or anything, you just take it after she dies, and she certainly doesn’t tell you what the hell you’re meant to do with it.Mate. How exactly did you think to give it to Malenia in the first place? Read the item description. There are three version of the Unalloyed Gold Needle. When you recieve it from Millicent the description changes yet again.>Unalloyed Gold Needle (final)>An intricately crafted needle of unalloyed gold. Removed by Millicent from her flesh. Bears no trace of befouled blood, but is faintly moist with dew. "There is something I must return to Malenia. The dignity, the sense of self, that allowed her to resist the call of the scarlet rot."This is how you know that you're supposed to deliver, to return, the needle to Malenia in the first place. And the description directly quotes Millicent's quest to return her "dignity" that allowed her to resist the call of the scarlet rot. Cont
>>287920625High T because she's clumsier and therefore cuter
>>287920743The conclusion to Millicent's questline is not that you're giving Malenia a pep talk so that she gets her confidence back. You are returning (keyword here, returning) the physical embodiment of her "dignity, her sense of self" so that she can resist the call of an outer god. In other words, the needle. As per Millicent's last request. Which you can read in the description of the needle. You are returning it, because she has lost it. She has lost her needle. The exact same needle that you now return. The needle. The poison for Kuzco. If she had her needle all along there would be no reason to return it. There are precious few Unalloyed Gold Needles and only Miquella has successfully created one as far as anyone knows. Gowry needed you to retrieve the one needle he knew of because he is incapable of creating one himself. So you find one of these exceedingly rare needles in the exact spot where Malenia bloomed. A broken needle whose main purpose was to prevent any blooming from occuring. And Malenia deliberately causes this bloom. It logically follows that she broke the needle herself to create the nuke. There may of course be other facts in play that prevented Millicent from blooming, like that you must be in a moment of spiritual distress to answer the call of the rot, but the needle stops that from happening in the first place. Malenia needed to break the needle if she wanted to bloom.

The guy's artstyle reminds me a lot of Shinichi Sakamoto (Kokou no Hito, Innocent), who openly uses filtered photos and photo textures in his artwork. I don't hate the style. My only complaint would be the shitty scan res not letting the artwork shine. This scans should have had twice the fidelity.

>>287919848Fair enough. Elden Ring being what it is, "very believable" is the best we'll ever get story wise, and what works for one there may not for another. Speaking personally, I find it immensely unsatisfying.>>287920743You didn't answer a single one of my needle questions. It seems you didn't understand them.>Unalloyed Gold Needle (final)Even with that item description it's still a stretch.>How exactly did you think to give it to Malenia in the first place?I didn't. Did you, actually? If so, you must know you're in the minority there. >As per Millicent's last requestAs I've just shone, that is simply untrue. You are told to do it by an item description, but that may as well be Miyazaki whispering in your ear. >If she had her needle all along there would be no reason to return itAnd, indeed, there is not one.>The conclusion to Millicent's questline is not that you're giving Malenia a pep talk so that she gets her confidence backWhat conclusion? Millicent's questline doesn't have a conclusion, it's obviously unfinished, and this is all but confirmed by the cut dialog.>returning (keyword here, returning) the physical embodiment of her "dignity, her sense of self" so that she can resist the call of an outer godThis much I agree with. Only, I believe Millicent herself was meant to be that physical embodiment. >So you find one of these exceedingly rare needles in the exact spot where Malenia bloomed. A broken needleNo, you find O'Neil there, who is evidently using the needle, therefore it can not be broken until after you defeat him. Still, Melania could have done like Millicent and simply removed the needle. So, we've come full circle: It's down to O'Neil, and who he fought for, Malenia or Radahn.

Because the first needle can't handle the frenzy. Only the second needle says it can.>Why do they look totally different? Because they are. You give one needle, you get ANOTHER in response. But they are both unalloyed gold needles. Read the descriptions.>How come the effects of Miquella’s Needle persist even after we leave?Leave where? Malenia? Miquella's Needle never worked as it was unfinished. Azula? Read the description. You disagreed with them both being Unalloyed Gold Needles. You disagreed with Malenia's rot having progressed. Both of these things are outright stated in descriptions and discredit your theory.>I didn't. Did you, actually? If so, you must know you're in the minority there.Yeah me and every other person who READ THE QUEST ITEM DESCRIPTION. >No, you find O'Neil there, who is evidently using the needleHoly headcannon, batman. There is nothing implying he is using the needle. Rather the opposite since he's dealing rot buildup which means the rot got him.Your entire argument hinges on that O'Neil was given the needle from Miquella, and that proves he's Miquellan. Right? Which in turn hinged on your idea that it was a separate needle from what Malenia used. Which is "highly unlikely" (retarded) for multiple reasons explained. It is the same needle. If he was sent there to retrieve the needle to cure Malenia it would make sense as a Miquellan, but then the exact same is true for Radahns people. But the proximity to Redmane castle, the clear absence of cleanrot and Miquellan insignia while waving a RED banner are huge red flags (heh). Not to mention that the banner is literally representing Serosh, favored by Radahn. The one and only thing relating him to Miquella is the reused asset for the Niall fight, which doesn't prove shit.

So you have to sit there holding your dick at the summon sign as it slowly activates as Radahn shoots his artillery cannon at your cerebellum.

Only the second needle says it can. Then there is a difference between them beyond Miquella's Needle being unfinished and the UGN being complete: Miquella's Needle, when completed, is stronger.>Because they are. But they are both unalloyed gold needlesI have two Bronze Shields in my inventory right now and they look the same. Miquella's Needle is an UGN the same way >Azula? Read the description. The description is what raises the question.>Both of these things are outright stated in descriptionsYes, but not in ways which discredit my theory. >You disagreed with Malenia's rot having progressedThere I was wrong, but that doesn't discredit my theory. It does seem to be that Malenia did break or discard her needle, and found Miquella's Needle later, which didn't work to stop the rot. The key is whether the needle was broken, or discarded and found by O'Neil: Only if it was discarded is my theory discredited. Which means that in order to prove your argument in favor of O'Neil fighting for Radahn, you have to presume just that.>Which in turn hinged on your idea that it was a separate needle from what Malenia usedNo, that's more part of my argument, which only came about as a defense to assertion that they are the same needle, which was brought up as evidence that O'Neil fought for Radahn. That evidence turned out to be an argument, and that argument turned out to be circular, built on the presumption that O'Neill fought for Radahn. >inb4 UGN item descriptionIt doesn't have to be the exact same needle to return her dignity. We've been talking about the needle for a while now, but we got on the topic in the first place because I was surprised to learn people think O'Neil was for Radahn. O'Neil being Miquellan is something that I've always taken for granted.
>>287929696>proximityHe's not near any living Redmane Knights, but is surrounded by Cleanrot Knights.>There is nothing implying he is using the needleUnlike Niall, he's immune to rot. >The one and only thing relating him to Miquella is the reused asset for the Niall fightO'Neil literally means "of Niall". O'Neil's prosthetic leg also connects him to Niall, as well as, tenuously to Marais.>Rather the opposite since he's dealing rot buildup which means the rot got him.His normal attacks don't build up rot, only his wind attacks where he's kicking up rot on the ground.>the clear absence of cleanrot and Miquellan insigniaOn the back of his cape, there's what looks like an unalloyed gold wreath embroidered on a piece of red cloth. The needle effectively is that, as is his deliberate use of rot through technique, which would be strange were he Redmane. The Cleanrot Knights don't mind him; they are coded as being on the same team. He has no Redmane insignia.>the banner is literally representing Serosh, favored by RadahnBanished Knights also like Serosh. The same banner is used by Niall, and he is explicitly described as leading an army "of no nation", and is about as far as one can get from Redmane. Removing the banner from Niall's halberd or changing its color would have been piss easy, no harder than adding those scars to his face. >waving a RED banner.Radahn doesn't have a monopoly on red dye, Melania uses it too, as do Exile Knights.
>>287930050But, just for the hell of it, let's pretend that he does: Even assuming that the banner is Radahn's, that still does not have to mean O'Neil is one of Radahn's men. It would be a natural thing for him to capture the enemy's standard, and him personally capturing Radahn's colors would go a long way towards explaining his unique pride. It would be an even more natural thing to do seeing as he also admired Serosh.>inb4 but it's called Commander's StandardYes, notably not "O'Neil's Standard". Although Commander O'Neil is a Commander, he is surely not the only Commander. What's more, the description does not refer to it as "his flag" or "his lord's flag" but "this flag". The only thing that contradicts this interpretation is Nial, Go watch Sharpe's Eagle sometime, it's fun, and on Youtube.
>>287930260I say all that, but Elden Ring being what it is, it ultimately comes down to which story you like better:Somehow, O’Neil survived the Scarlet Aeonia. He covered Radahn’s retreat to Redmane Castle, then returned to the devastated field of battle to look for Malenia’s discarded Unalloyed Gold Needle, desperate to save his lord. He scrounged around on his hands and knees for decades, combing the swamp for the needle, all while fighting off the remains of Malenia’s forces. Finally, he found it, and took it into himself. But by that time his memory had been rotted away, and he no longer remembered that he was meant to bring the needle to Radahn. Like his master, he has had gone made, and believes himself to still be on the field of battle, to this very day.(Despite this, he makes a truce with the Cleanrot Knights.)O’Neil commanded part of his father’s “army of no nation” as an auxiliary force under Melania. After pledging allegiance to the Haligtree and the Twins, he was given one of a precious few Unalloyed Gold Needles so that he could fight alongside his new lord. Thanks to this, he alone of his men survived the Scarlet Aeonia, when Melania was incapacitated in her fight with Radahn, and had to be evacuated to the Haligtree by Finlay.Although his men are all dead and his lord was fled, O'Neil refuses to give up the ground she took, to this very day. I'll drop it now
