I wish Kino was a cute boy. Then I would watch his/her show.

Because it tries its best and constantly tries to show something warm, gentle and kind to make up for every hurtful thing that we cause. For every cruelty or sorrow that Kino experienced in her travels, there were good people, and a beautiful road full of nature. The world prepared a field of flowers, just for her, to soothe her heart after escaping that town full of pain. It is extremely cute.

no, therefore

>>287913155
It's just sigsawa coping.
Kino is supposed to embody the spirit of rands objectivism, a happy, life affirming free spirit or something.
But in real life, the show is just wannabe-deep kitsch with philosophy that will only impress middle schoolers.
Le world is not beautiful; therefore it is.
Such profound, much deep

Because her world has yet to be defiled by the religion of capitalism. Men are free to go and do whatever they want. They aren't simply born as slaves to be vampirically siphoned and exploited for their labor.

I despised the episode about the flying machine. Absolutely trash message unless you are supposed to be infuriated at it. The rest is Kino of the highest caliber.

>Absolutely trash message
Create new technology and marry your childhood friend?
>>
>>287921024
The childhood friend was trash and completely unsupportive of her dream, everyone was trash to her, but suddenly her worth as a person increased when due to various shenanigans she managed to fly the machine and the thing actually worked, and she was rewarded with being reinserted into society. This is shown as a positive thing. I thought that her worth and the care of her peers being tied on whether she succeeded or not is messed up, you have no idea how much I hated her childhood friend. I know it's realistic that it goes that way, but it's shown by the narrative as a good thing. There's no criticism of it, the girl doesn't realize it or care, etc. I don't need the show to be open about a message and have it coincide with my personal views, but I couldn't remove bad taste from my mouth that the narrative hadn't really considered this angle.
>>
>>287921117
He was supportive of *her* for her entire life though, despite being realistic about wasting your life on something that likely will never work out.
>>
>>287921570
He gave her shit about it. And she was happy "wasting" her life.
>>
>>287921641
A good way to word it is that I hated that the episode made her dream positive only because her success retroactively made it worth it. I hate that episode so much that im replying to myself. I could keep the thread alive out of spite for that episode. I'm sleepy though...

Firstly, you're viewing this from the fact that you know a plane exists and is possible, the villagers don't. Secondly, remember that in this country something is useful if it's helpful for the crop. Thirdly, all the villagers do at the end is apologize for being dicks for not believing in her dream. The show is about visiting countries, and is often about what makes their tradition wrong or generally interesting. It's clear that the show portrays this country as backwards for only thinking that agriculture tech is useful, and at the end they've changed their ways by claiming Nimya is a mage ie she made something useful. If their's a message it's to be like Kino, to help actualize a dream by having faith in it even if she doesn't believe in it, because like Hermes says we should wonder the potential we humans have.

The only reason her worth is tied to the villagers is because they prevent her from actualizing her dream. Which is the point of the message, showing that a lack of support leads to isolation and dreams not being fulfilled. The reason the villagers don't care for her dream, and I say dream because they may care for her, you can see her childhood friend saying that flying the plane is dangerous, but not her dream which I think is a point that may have caused this confusion, is because the first and second point that I stated above. When she does fly the plane they of course care now because she's proven the machines worth not her own worth, since she could just be a house wife and they'd be happy with that. Which leads to an apology for not believing her. And then when they call her a mage she asks her childhood friend what they're talking about because to her it wasn't about having value to the village it was about flying. And I really don't think the show portrays the villagers in a good light especially with how sympathetic it makes Nimya. Sorry if this post is dry and a mess I rewatched the episode and I'm tired.

So why she hasn't done it yet?

It's one of the nicest places to live in the setting.

Honestly early Kino is amateurish with it's fables and philosophy, there's some good stuff but there's also a lot that's just too "im 14 and this is deep" tier
gets better though
at least when it's not "im a 14 year old right wing libertarian and this is deep" tier

She is being sarcastic, she herself is actually a pessimist trying to find the beauty by travelling all over. She will never find her true blue sky, but maybe that's okay for her.
>>
Kino finds the world beautiful because she gets to reap the rewards of society without having to contribute to it herself. It starts with her origin story and continues throughout the adventure. She is able to reap the fruits of the society she engages in and leaves before the cost of that society must be paid, that's why she leaves after 3 days.

She doesn't get all the rewards and she often contributes a lot, doing the dirty work people from the countries are not willing to do themselves.
