Why does every Isekai MC have to be a perverted Japanese male polygamist with cheats? Can't we just have a normal American monogamist Christian who works hard?
first statement is objectively falsesecond statement: nobody likes Amerimutts
>>287916162I know you're just taking the piss here but honestly I'd be quite interested in an isekai with a Christian protagonist, written by someone who genuinely understands Christianity
>>287916270Isn't that literally just The Chronicles of Narnia?
>subaru>ainz>naofumi>cid>pervertedlol and lmao
>>287916295No, that's portal fantasy. (It's british)I want a Japanese guy to write it, the story would take on a completely different foavor in so many ways for so many reasons
>>287916162>sao>isekaiyeah surejjk is an isekai as well, domains are basically other worlds
>>287916270Will?
>>287916162Is Ainz a pervert polygomist he doesn't have a dick?
>>287916614He did one sexual thing ever and it was entirely as a joke
>>287916162Bonedaddy isn't a polygamist
>>287916270Would it be better if the protag is tasked with some sort of "interdimensional missionary work" or if MC gets the general vaguely explained "you're just reincarnating in another world for reasons" stuff and happens to think, "I want to set up the Church"?
>>287916270Might be fun
>>287916577I read the Japanese fundamentally don't understand Christianity. But it's "lore" so to speak is fertile ground for fiction writers there.
>>287916162You need to be a special type of schizo to still be Christian even after you're thrown to a different world with clear cut rules on divinity.
>>287916979Not really you just have to think G-d is above even the small gods of that other world go full old testament on their ass
>>287916270we are in desperate need of Christian characters that aren't tel aviv strawmen or displacements of the writer's daddy issues. the few examples from western sources that have funding are always extremely compelling
>>287916941Well it'd have to be a Christian writer I expect.
>>287916162I mean, you aint wrong but the examples are shit because most of those aren't polygamists. Even the cheating is pushing it in a few cases. Ainz is a max level character for his setting but a relatively weak one and I don't think Sora has any powers beyond being good at games and lusting after his sister,.
>>287916270Most Christians would implode at the idea of other universes existing
>>287916756>Japanese salary man>Sudden death in a car crash>Wake up in an abstract space>Haruto, my son. You have been a faithful servant all your days. >It is not your time to join me here, for I have a great work for you to do. >You shall be blessed with the ministering of angels, and protected as you do my will on a faraway world. >Gets dropped through a fimensional gate into the shittiest of conditions with a bible and a dictionary for the local language
>>287917200Why?
>>287917055Japanese primarily only know about Christianity via the interactions they hear in history class about missionaries.Christian theology is "vaguely similar to but extremely different on a fundamental level to Buddhism."A lot of Japanese writers trying to write Christianity, resultantly, end up writing something that feels superficially Christian but is extremely flawed in its deeper world views.Ultraman is essentially an allegory for angels and the divine helping humanity reach its full potential.
>>287916162
>>287917411Yeah, I knowThat's why I said it'd have to be an actual Christian writerBecause the broader japanese culture doesn't get it
>>287916162Incredible how every single character in the 3x3 is insufferable to varying degrees. Not one I can stand, except maybe Rudy but that's on the condition the story isn't focusing on him too much at that moment.>>287917311>he's a retard with the education level of an elementary schooler so he has no idea about Christianity>he's the kind that gets a panic attack when seeing a + symbol because it's too close to a crossHe's probably one of the two.
>>287916941They understand christianity. That's why Church's are usually the bad guys.
>>287917509Translation: my dad made me go to church and I didn't want to
>>287916577This is no different than all the other "we want representation" troons. It's insufferable, self-fellating and lacks self-awareness. Same as I don't care if some spic wants their country to appear in anime. You wouldn't want a muslim in anime talking about how awesome Allah is.It's retarded for the same reason.
>>287916270What kind of Christian? Somewhat happened IRL already with missionaries going around the world, as close to an isekai as you get in real life. Also one of the most famous pieces of litterature in history is an isekai starring a Christian: Divine Comedy. >>287917540He's the exact same type as the Japs who make the church/God the bad guy. Two things:>the church/God is the ultimate authority so they are an obvious target for the wageslave salaryman who feels his entire life is just a reel of powerlessness>it takes a very high level of maturity, relatively speaking, to accept the idea of an objective judgement which means you are wrong, you're living your life wrong, and it's not up to anyone's opinion The latter especially is rare these days as modern society with all its comforts and removal from the harsher realities of living means you get a lot of 14 year olds in the body of a 35 year old.
>>287917568I'm not asking for representation, I genuinely think it would be interesting. It's the same as when I ask for an anime about Atlantis, or a stranded time traveler trying to survive the French Revolution
>>287917603Okay we can't go calling Dante's Divine Comedy an Isekai just because he went to another world, the word is useful because we keep it specificIf we stretch it as far as it can reach it stops being useful
>>287917487Look at this. You know there aren't Christians there but you need "a Christian writer" to conveniently appear anyway AND you can't read the stuff that already exists from countries like Narnia just so you can self-fellate yourself even more than you already do because an anime validated you.Get over yourself.>>287917630It's obviously not the same because with Atlantis you don't cry that the author "doesn't understand Atlantis" when his view isn't the same as yours and it doesn't fit your echochamber. >I'm not asking for representation, I genuinely think it would be interesting. You're in denial like any other troon.
>>287917055>>287917487graham is /v/ but he's a great example and he was written by an atheist. they just have to be written by someone who isn't some gay propaganda victim or a raped midwit
>>287917800I have read Narnia. I liked it a lot. I want a japanese writer because, as I said, the differences in culture would lead to a lot of differences in the story. >You don't cry because the author "doesn't understand Atlantis"Well if they stick Atlantis in space or something, yes I would. The point of Atlantis is that it's a mythical hyper advanced lost civilization sunk beneath the sea, that's the whole appeal of the legend.
>>287916162Neither Shield Hero guy nor Ainz are perverts
>>287917892you can stretch the metaphor to a dying planet or one destroyed by awesome weapons/nukes.
>>287916162Now this got me guessing which of these has the most Christian elements, guess it'd be Re:Zero with the deadly sins stuff. Its more ~witchy occult vibes~ than Christian though.Shield Hero?
>>287917540And yet the Japanese don't fall for your shitty religion. Nobody with sense does.
>>287917800They are the very same people to call you a tourist at the drop of a hat, but want to convert Japan to Christianity. It's insane.
>>287918229Yeah but that's a different storyNot that I have a problem with it, those are fine ideas, but don't advertise Atlantis and not even have it be underwater
>>287916162Kill yourself, moralcuck.
>>287918474Actually it was gaining some significant headway, before the largest center of Christianity in Japan got nuked
>>287918540>Same peopleCan I get a source for that one
>>287918600You mean a mid sized city where 6 percent of the population was christian? Great. Maybe if they didn't get nuked. Japan would be 1.04 percent christian and not 1.02 lmao
>>287916270This is not an anime, but there's a very Japanese Isekai inspired reverse isekai called "The Knight King Who Returned with a God" which is all about somebody returning from another world and going on a missionary type of work to bring awareness of the divine to earth. It's actually pretty funny.
>>287916162okay half of the characters in your 3x3 are not polygamists though, and some of them don't even cheat.
>>287918600BTW. The elderly in south korea which actually did turn christian for a while are 70 percent Christian. The youth? 15 percent. Meaning it's gone soon. Nobody with sense falls for Christianity lmao. Once incomes go up, believing in sky fairies go down
>>287917685no but that is literally one of the first "transported to another world" type stories. The difference being he was just an observer.
>>287916162Oh no, you will NOT put Re Zero, Konosuba, Tensura, MT, Overlord and especially NGNL into the same category as Kiriturd, Shieldfag, Shadowtard and the rest of the shitty cookie cutter ricecel self-insert isekai out there.
>>287918726>Once incomes go up, believing in sky fairies go downWhy?
More like "all light novel MCs" really.
>>287918726How's their birth rate doing?
>>287918757If you think Eminence in Shadow is in that camp you clearly didn't get it. It is a genuine parody of the archetype where the main character thinks everyone is playing along with his larp and every cliche is taken to such an extreme that it turns into something else. I'm cool with you not liking it, I got bored of it after a while myself, but don't lie about it
>>2879187631. You don't need a "heaven" on the other side. A gamble at best. You can make a pretty good life for yourself here.2. The bible is not very convincing itself to anyone who has a median IQ. Back in the 60s, Koreans faced large amount of trauma and malnutrition from war. 3. People like being free at the end of the day. A magic sky fairy watching you as you masturbate is the opposite of freedom. Doesn't matter how much you scream FREE WILL
>>287918757yeah ngl, I agree with the other anon, shadow is not nearly as bad as the category you put it in.
>>287918798Yes, that's unfortunate. But at least they aren't christfags anymore. Enjoy your 5 billion African Christians by 2100.
>>287916162It's not complicated. Most contemporary Isekai are power fantasies. Most men want to have sex, lots and lots of sex with beautiful women, all different kinds and shapes of beautiful women. The settings are also usually conducive to multiple women as long as you can support them
>>287918836I suppose you're the type that believes atheist space utopia is just a question of scientific progress
Subaru isn't going for Rem and Emilia because its a polygomy power fantasy, he's going for Rem and Emilia because he's a bpdemon.I don't get Cid desu but he doesn't really seem interested in a relationship. He should get with that cute classmate from the Jack the Ripper arc though.
>>287918763its not connected. secular governments (public, individualistic) interests are opposite familial culture (private, communal). nobody intelligent really believes in a sky daddy granting wishes when you put your hands together before bed, its a corruption of platonism, which itself was a corruption of eastern philosophy from the bronze age or earlier.
the only places that a christcuckoid wants to isekai into is the fluffy cloud place that is empty because nobody can fulfill the insane conditions to enter it, or the burny ouchy place if they feel they were naughty, which is 100% of all of them. being isekai'd into a completely different world with different gods is contrary to their abrahamoid teachings.
Read better isekai.
>>287919932>Granting wishesYou're right about one thing at least, in a humorpusly ironic way. Nobody intelligent believes in that.
>>287920128What the fuck happened when I was typing that post
magic sky daddy will grant wishes after you're dead, in the meantime, you must grant the wishes of magic sky daddy's priests.
>there are STILL people posting "sky daddy" in the year 2014+12
Imagine wanting sky daddy to be sky mommy now. How extremely pathetic.
>>287920170Source: r*dditors two generations removed from anyone that's even read the bible beforeYou can be atheist, but stop being stupid
At least Sora was fun
clearly it's not a daddy, but merely an uncle. sky uncle. worship sky uncle now!
>>287920268Why are you gay
don't mock sky auntie, or I'll get angry.
For me, its the silhouette look. Simple and sleek.
I’m sorry about what the “sky daddy priest” did to you, but you have to get over it. He was a satanist anyway
>>287917568I feel like wanting to see a decently portrayed take on X type of person instead of a Hollywood (so to speak) character or a living prop shouldn't be that controversial an opinion
>>287918568Space is an ocean
Imagine getting angry on behalf of sky daddy priests in the 2026th year since the birth of sky daddy's son.
>>287916270>I know you're just taking the piss here but honestly I'd be quite interested in an isekai with a Christian protagonist, written by someone who genuinely understands ChristianityDamn, I'd genuinely be interested in that
wouldn't Isekai inherently disprove Christianity?
I’m still angry about my poopie rapie attack in 2026
>>287920527as long as you only isekai to ouchie burnie place and fluffy cloud place, then isekai is fine for the sky daddy club.
The poopie water did a heckin science and life just accidented thats why i get to do a buttsex
>>287920527As far as I'm aware it never says in the bible that God only made one universe

>>287921309That makes it even sillier then
>>287916270>Christian protagonistYou'd really need to more clearly define what you mean by that. "Christian" consistently means whatever people want it to. That's why it's such cancer.
>>287921378If I need to define Christian, we've really gone off the deep end
>>287916162This is all the Christianity manga/anime needs.
Why are people larping as Christians in this thread?
>>287921596Same reason you're larping as an atheist

>>287921179> Making a maliciois parody would bring western cultural war into the industry what we don't wantI think a lot of /a/ does want to bring the western culture war into the anime industry, they just want their ‘side’ to win. This thread is evidence of it.
>>287921596Christianity is opposite the woke libs, so anons identify with it even if they’re not true believers. This is also how a lot of American evangelicals are.

>>287929789yeah, so far they got>4X (Eternal Nations)Represented by Takuto Ira/Atou>JRPG (Brave Questers)Represented by Yu Kamiyaderya/Ai >Tabletop RPG (Elemental Ward 4th Edition)Represented by Keiji Kuhara/Erakino>Eroge (Doki Doki Succubus World)Represented by [Unknown Player]/Vagia>Trading Card Game (Seven God Kings)No Representative/Dead>Hack n' Slash (Avicii)Represented by "Mr. H"we really only get to see three of them in action, since the SGK faction got wiped by the DokiSuckU faction apparently, and also ended up in an alliance with the Avicii faction against the Eternal Nations faction who allied itself with the Brave Questers faction after the latter approached Mynoghra, but we did at least see the items of SGK and Avicii being used by Vagia during the discussions with Mynoghraalso, given how the story is going, it heavily leans on game mechanics + narrative mechanics apparently, which means that while Atou was able to singlehandedly deal with the entire Demon King army because the JRPG faction can really only face her in groups of 5, and none of their attacks have massive AoE while Atou can clearly wipe them out in massive stacks. Meanwhile, Frost General Ice Rock basically is able to freeze Atou in place despite Atou normally being strong enough to break through the ice, because such an attack causes the target to lose a turn, which means the attacker can land a clean hit on the target, which did damage Atou. This also explains why Fire General Flamin' was able to basically kill Isla despite Isla having high enough stats to normally be able to mollywhop Flamin, as he basically invokes a narrative trigger that would normally activate as part of a hero's journey, and it's basically unstoppable.
>>287921034Correct.
>>287916162I think you're forgetting someone...
>>287929789>>287933538In addition, beyond the anime, we'd see even more of these mechanics operating as basically their own power system, which is presented in how Erakino and Kuhara were able to basically roflstomp everything so far because Kuhara, having GM powers, was able to rig every single roll in Erakino's favour, allowing her to basically Brainwash Atou (though Atou temporarily was able to break through it because, given how Elemental Ward's rules work, she can make a roll to resist it, and initially succeeded due to her high loyalty towards Takutou before Kuhara forced another role, abusing his power as GM. this forced Takuto to basically act in total secrecy after his 'death' and invoked a Brave Quester narrative questline involving the death of Paladins that Kuhara's rigged rolls could not solved, because it was a mystery, the answer was that they have to find it out as part of the questline. And there's even that part where we actually see the Succubi in action, and they're practically physically invulnerable because, according to the text in their game, they can't be brought down by the likes of fucking ship artillery and also ignore poisons and the like, and subdued the elf nation easily through that and turned it into a nerd's wet dream. basically, it's about game systems clashing against each other, and often creating strange interactions as the characters from the game literally utilize mechanics from their game and are bound by it, and so they have to basically try to manipulate and game it to their advantage, like how takuto managed to finally subdue kuhara. he literally called a Session Pause because Elemental Ward was built to make sure that the relationship between player and GM isn't toxic and so has a lot of tools for that, and forcing a disciplinary motion against Kuhara because of all his blatant rules violation, and was punished in majority vote by stripping his GM Authority
>>287933117>Slime>better than Re:Zero or Eminenceget the fuck out of here nigga you can't be serious
>>287933876Nah, that anon is mostly right. The only mistake of his is that Slime is only #3. It should be #1.
Why are you anons expecting quality from essentially Japanese Wattpad?
>>287933948wrongslime should only be roughly above overlord, because slime's fucking trash. i still have not forgiven slime for that trash fucking final arc in the webcomic holy shit was so fucking assand it still did not fix it's major problem with character deaths, mainly, the fact that shion and the immortals are not fucking dead, and were resurrected almost immediately after the arci can't take it seriously after that. the only good slime arc is the dungeon business arc, because that's the only part that actually embraces what's actually good about slime as opposed to the gay power fantasy that it doesn't actually pull off that well and makes it even more wankier than re:monster holy fuck how do you even do that
>>287933876Yeah, Slime is good. Better than Re:Zero aka every character is a cringey walking clown rambling annoyingly and Eminence aka rehashing the school battle harem from the 2010s only now its in isekai. They still have some good parts tho, but these 2 just have a great concept, but only a wasted potential imo, especially EminenceI'm making my own sound judgement here, I don't think a single one of these series is perfect. I'm just weighing them based on my personal taste and opinion, also writing-wise, aesthetics-wise, character-wise, other factors etc etc.Its just my own list, nigga
>>287934041*webnovel>>287934045i know it's your personal taste, i'm just saying that slime is too fucking ass to be above fucking re:zero or eminence in the first place, because at least those two do something interesting with their story or character, slime only has worldbuilding. that's it. in terms of writing i won't even put it above overlord, overlord does its shit better but it tragically fumbles at the end of volume 9 by repeating the same arcs again but less interesting. holy kingdom arc was the worst of it, but i think slime's final arc was even more disappointing than that.
>>287916832Wasn't John Brown an abject failure who accomplished nothing of worth and unironically got more civilians killed during his botched raid than he did his supposed enemies?
>>287934109His problem is that he literally spent too much time fighting and killing in the west. His tactics did not work in the east.
Why does Japan have this immense habit of constantly redoing the same old tropes over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again? It’s almost like the Japanese are creatively bankrupt from years of being isolated otaku. This is why anime girls always act the same. They don’t know what a real woman acts like. So they just assume all the anime+manga before them cracked the code.
>>287933117Put Slime between SAO and Shield Hero and it's okay.
>>287934481Literally nobody wants real women, not even real women themselves. If humanity could replace real women with sex robots who also had a functional womb, it would do so, even if the real women were screeching about that.
>>287934481>muh real womynBeing unrealistic is part of the appeal. Kill yourself, retarded tourist.
>>287934481Trvth nvke
isekai + christianity is fundamentally incompatible because suddenly the universe is larger than desert shithole and dead magic jew
>>287917603>it takes a very high level of maturity, relatively speaking, to accept the idea of an objective judgement which means you are wrong, you're living your life wrong, and it's not up to anyone's opinionIsn't it the other way around? Objective judgement is a very popular idea globally, and it's appealing to people precisely because it's simple and means that there's only one set of clearly established rules to follow. You don't have to make your own case or hash out the specifics of any issue like you would when debating government policy or law, which most people find terribly boring and unappealing. Just do as you're told and everything will turn out well. People struggle a lot more with the idea that someone else might see the fundamentals of the world in a completely different manner than you and that there might not be a way to prove them wrong, which is why such differences often lead to people wanting to kill the heathens instead of trying to come up with some sort of a shared framework.
>>287916270What does understanding Christianity even mean? They'd just say going to heaven is being isekai'd to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
>>287931109No? Maybe get off the board once in a while and actually read some things or learn to go outside.>>287916162>Eminence in Shadow>perverted male polygamist with cheatsClearly haven't seen the show at all. Dude works hard for what he's got and is monosexual as shit, that being his love for the tropes.
>>287920072I've only read Bookworm. Sell me on the second best of these (not konosuba, not interested)
>>287934041The Tensura LN is a complete reboot for a reason, anon.Regarding deaths, it's a freaking myth story. Death is not the great equalizer here because it's not about puny mortals lamenting their fragile mortality but rather about factions with practically unlimited potential competing with one another for supremacy. A large portion of the cast seems like they could be main protagonists themselves and the story avoids all too common pitfall of scaling the conflicts and challenges to the current arc all the time. Many regard this last point as a negative because of "MUH stakes" and "MUH need to earn success with blood and tears" but that has always been a zero-sum game with the main protagonist's agency and the feeling that any improvements/successes actually stick and aren't just reset by the next "level scaling tier" by the next arc. I prefer Tensura's priorities in this regard and there should be more of that in general.
>>287916832there was an actual isekai of this, i believe
>>287916162There is only ONE haremchad in that image
>>287938012it is not entirely because of 'muh steaks' or 'muh effortful sucksess) that i rally against this specific instance of it, it is very hamfisted, and for that to even happen, it required a very specific set of circumstances (which just so coincidentally set up previously by the enemy) to even be able to do such a thing. and this specific instance happened long before the powerscalingwankery got out of hand. it is, entirely, down to coincidence that shion or those immortals were able to be revived in the first place. it reeks less of a reward for rimuru's acts or even a display of rimuru's will to defy heaven itself to get what he wants so much as the author's hand revealing itself to preserve a character that was liked by the fanbase through these specific circumstances set up to allow for it to happen in the first place.in addition, it does show that rimuru is exempt from consequences even in his blunders, because he never truly blunders. even in old myths where men move heaven and earth itself and perform great deeds proving themselves worthy or righteous or mighty, they still suffer consequences from their actions, minor and major. this is not a matter of stakes as it is a matter of believability, especially so when it's a full-scale war of domination between the factions. there is an incongruity between the tone of the story and the nature of the conflict itself that the story cannot fully resolve. it may be perhaps a matter of my taste between different, but i don't like how tensura does things, much as i did enjoy reading its early parts.
>>287931144I like how she managed to combine her MClust with mind control and basically flood the opposition with completely useless information despite being nominally on their side.
>>287933790There seems to be some kind of counterbalance built into this, however, because Takuto tried to yoink GM powers but got punished for it. That said being able to beat an adversarial GM as a player through rules lawyering deserves great respect.
>>287937818>What does understanding Christianity even mean?Nothing. It's a catch-all for anything that doesn't fit their echochamber. If they see a view they dislike, they can just say "you don't understand it for realz". No further explanation needed. It's why when they say they "genuinely" want it a few posts later, it's a transparent lie. Or if they did, they could watch Boku no Pico. It's kind of impressive. The cultists disagree with the writer and that means he doesn't understand and it doesn't count.
>>287934699Nah, its too good to be that low imo. Slime's anime might feel to be the most cheap-looking one among there, but its manga adaptation is really brings the best out of it
>>287931375Found the American.
>>287941622As you said, that was mostly the result of Takuto attempting to take the GM Arbiter role for himself, he got punished for doing that without consent of all player (which, in that session, also involves Keiji Kuhara)>>287936017>he doesn't know about the Mormon afterlife where you become a god of your very own isekai world
Thoughts on kumoko?
>>287944543i like the segments after the dungeon where she was doing a lot of plotting and schemingalso it did pull off the 'back-to-back reveals that continually upends your understanding of the world and characters with every reveal' better than most literature i've readthe path to the ending was ass, rushed as shit and wasn't satisfying at all. the ending scene itself was okay, i kinda like the fact that she, ultimately, ended up becoming yet another plaything for D as it does feel like the perfect anticlimactic ending for her character
>>287916162You overdid it with the second half. Only idiots would think you were being sincere.
