I never understood why Kishimoto didn't do more prequel stuff. There's so much stuff to explore about the Naruto world and its history. He didn't have to ruin the ending and undermine Naruto's ideals. He could've just left it vague i.e Naruto broke the cycle of hatred and reformed/ended the shinobi system
