>>287939698Monogatari is so visually stunning and well written (and deeply autistic) that even a show as relentlessly horny as this can be appealing to a faggot like me. Mayoi Maimai is when I realised I was watching the pinnacle of the medium. I think this show has a reputation for just being full of attractive women but no, it's also genuinely incredible in every regard.

>>287945398puppetry and stop motion are considered anime by japan, not live action
>>287944306I know enough Japanese to understand that the depth of NISIOISIN's accomplishments are impossible to localise, and if I was actually fluent I would absolutely watch this, and read the LNs in pure Japanese. But to dismiss the translation as "completely lost" is disingenuous considering how excellent it still is even in a language it was not designed for.

>>287939698>animeShoujo Kakumei UtenaObviously we could praise the aesthetics or the quality and use of music, but it's the world and characters I like. I enjoyed playing through the Dreamcast game a bunch of times to learn more. The nature of the narrative of course lends itself to multiple watches (I've seen it from start to finish about seven times now I think) and I feel like I notice something different each time.>mangaShibito no Koe wo Kiku ga YoiHorror is my favourite genre (well explored in manga but has almost never been done successfully in anime) and this one has plenty of gruesome stuff and all that, but it's also very funny and entertaining generally. There's also a kind of sardonic quality that comes across in the characters and narrative. Almost everyone in the story is very unlikeable in their own way and positive character traits like heroism don't really come into it.
