It was always somewhat grounded. Characters like the guy that larped as a samurai were made fun of, in-universe, by others for being a dork. The closest you got to super powers was that one guy who could mimick other's cooking by observing them. In the last season there was a clown who cooked by juggling pressure cookers.
They jumped the shark.
