Is he the most sauceless, forgettable protagonist out of all the notable shonens?
>>
>>287965951
He wasn’t the protagonist
>>
>>287965951
That's not Chainsaw Man.
>>
>>287965951
Denji but since you said notable shonens which csm isnt (forgotten trash), then Deku
>>
I don't mind stories where the protagonist is just a vessel for the story, and not the story itself.
JJK and Jojo Part 5 come to mind.
>>
>>287965951
No he’s my hero he gets shit on one billion times and never gives up in the face of adversity, yes he gets saved but he is quick to listen to his mentors and believe in them.
>>
>>287965951
Deku
>>
>>287965951
This guy might be entirely reactive but he's got so much grit and personality that I think he sticks out. Yeah he's not a caricature that's easy to latch onto like Nardo but Yuji's very exemplary of the unshakeable human spirit

Is this all there is to shonentards? Comparing shit to piss?
>>
>>287965951
yes, he is just sukuna's vessel not an actual character. the archer or the witch bitch have more personality than this lame guy
>>
At least he’s not a crybaby bitch like deku.
>>
>>287965951
I liked him cause he seems more competent than the usual shonen protag and actually gets shit done without having to whine, cry and flashback for 2 episodes.
>>
>>287966624
>Denji
>sauceless and forgettable
At least say Deku or Asta or something.
>>
>>287971711
Denji is easily the worst protagonist in manga across all genres and decades
>>
Who is a good protagonist? Naruto? Ichigo? Luffy? Denji? Deku? Tanjiro? They all suck.
>>
>>287965951
The ending of JJK is so shitty it actually makes you like Yuji way more. He ends up being the last rivet holding the manga together because he's the most basic WSJ protagonist imaginable and even Gege couldn't fuck it up.

Edward
Urameshi

Yuji is the best. Ask a male friend to explain it to you.

Yuji doesn't have any unique personality. He's just the strong, dumb, kind hearted mc that usually never gives up. The only interesting thing about him is the 2-3 times he actually gave up just for someone to come in and say never give up.
>>
>>287981041
Cog mentality and giving the godlike antagonist the ultimatum of submitting or dying was fairly non-standard.
>>
>>287982170
Taking full responsibility for Sukuna's rampage is great.

You don't need to be unique to be good. You just have to be written well. Yuji's interesting because of execution. Simple as. It is made a point that he doesn't have aspirations of grandeur. He wants to live his life and is going to be a cog in the machine if it means finding fulfillment and getting the job done. But these roles were all messy ones because he's just a kid learning from his mentors. That's why he gives up occasionally. He hadn't made those ideals his own yet. His maturity only comes at the end of the story when he finds his own answers, different from those of his elders and it leaves Sukuna stumped in the best possible way.

My real gripe is that his apotheosis is rushed. Like just about everything else about the ending.
>>
>>287965951
Jujutusu kaisen characters are literally as shallow as it gets. I cringe hard any time anyone tries to pretend they care about them.

obvious bait is obvious
>>
>>287965951
That's not Rudeus whose name i had to Google because how forgettable he is
>>
>>287982867
I think the execution was terrible. Yuji reaches that conclusion completely out of nowhere and for no reason, because in the last scene he had with Sukuna before the domain, he was just trying to kill him, nothing happened that would cause him to think differently.

But my biggest gripe is that nothing he does is interesting, and when it can be it's always undercut. In most fights he always gets outshined by whoever he's with, his whole cog mentality doesn't mean much because he has so little plot relevance past the beginning of the culling games, and when he gives Sukuna the ultimatum it means nothing because he had to get saved by an ass pull. It's so hard to care about the little bit if character he has, and his generic personality makes it worse.

Gege simply refused to develop Yuji because he hates him, he is based on his chad brother so he personally sabotaged him to help Yuta (his original mc) popularity
>>
>>287981041
He is better than the boring Yuta Stu
