I don't understand picrel, explain it
>>
>>287969883
Wrong. It's 5 cours, i.e. ~60 episodes. But they are split up. We'll get the first 2 cours, i.e. ~24 episodes this Spring and Summer. It's unknown when the remaining 3 cours will air or how long the break will be until the 3rd cour or whether or not the 3 remaining cours will also be split up and if so, how long the break(s) will be then.
The possibilities of cour combinations (1 cour = ~12 episodes) are the following:
>2-3
>2-1-2
>2-2-1
>2-1-1-1
Depending on how many "parts" there will be and how long a break between each "part" there is, the anime might very well still stay behind the manga.

I am of two minds about them trying to bully Tempest. On one hand, trying to undermine such a new and fast growing country is the geopoliticaly smart thing to do. I'd expect competent world leaders to do as much considering how much military, economical and cultural power they have amassed.
On the other hand, pissing off a Demon Lord is just extremely retarded. It is not even about powerlevels, Rimuru is literally a monster and you are all in a locked room with him. The fuck are you guys doing.
>>

the anime explain this, MC hid his power level on purpose and created fake rumors to make himself look weak so other nations wouldn't have a reason to want to exterminate him or completely fear him, this lets MC have some room to negotiate.
Hinata is in the room and I assume they hired bodyguards in the case Rimuru wants to kill them, they assume that would be enough because of the rumors.

Speaking of goblins, it really bothers me that he didn't bring Gobta or Rigurd as part of his entourage. Tempest was originally a goblin village, they deserve some representation in the global stage.
>>
>>287972927
It's doubtful they would have been as warmly welcomed as the oni. Goblins are fairly lowly monsters, people probably wouldn't hesitate to discriminate against them. It's just buying trouble to bring them, until Engrassia is more accustomed to goblins and other monsters as peaceful neighbors.

The oni, at least, nobody is gonna fuck with. They look very human, except for the horns, and anybody who recognizes them for what they are would A) struggle not to shit their pants in fear and B) remove themselves from their presence.

Doesn't make sense, since he had 万能変化 since vol. 2 (he just regains it with his new body from his TDL evolution in vol. 5) and this skill could not actually remake his body in the true sense.
I am still in learning, but I am pretty sure that in this case the と between the body-types being mentioned isn't used as "and" here but rather as "between" because 変態 in terms of transforming usually means from one fixed form to another fixed form, not the "sandbox" type of transformation.
Moreover all TDLs are inherently infertile unless they do that thing where they sacrifice most of their powers to give to their child.
>>
>>287976900
>he just regains it with his new body
ah that's plausible. so the expression of this ability would be to possess his dungeon avatar core like a few eps ago.
but then how does guy do his gender change and sex in different genders?
>>
>>287977151
>but then how does guy do his gender change and sex in different genders?
There is a difference between Rimuru doing his mimicry in his default androgynous form, or his various other forms. When he does it with his androgynous form he very naturally transforms into it. But when he transforms into other forms, then it uses that "black mist" which is rather wasteful to maintain for longer time and has some kind of "reaction-lag" when using it, too.

I will never not be mad that the anime skipped one of the most important underlying subtle foreshadowings of the entire story.
>>
>>287992425
Also they're just being greedy dicks and need a reality check. They need Tempest a lot more than Tempest needs them. Rimiru could destroy their entire alliance without ever actually going to war with them, purely because of his stranglehold over east-west trade and monopoly over rare exotic goods. If he had even a single ambitious bone in his body he'd peel all the lesser nations away from that group into his own power bloc and then put the major ones under economic siege. They'd probably fold in a year, tops.
>>
>>287992577
My biggest wish is for a new studio to remake the whole series following the manga. The manga is the best medium to digest the story yet the anime fails to capture its charm

There are a few things that the anime does better, such as the Shizu arc and in general having a better sense of scale compared to the manga that makes everything looks rather tiny.
But on the other hand the anime fucked up several very important character defining and character building moments in the story by either brushing over them or sometimes even skipping over them entirely.

I haven't watched any of slime but I tried out this episode because I heard there was some good bureaucracy/project management. I like the pre-meeting meeting but I dislike the comically evil topdogs of the council. A competent leader would be more earnest in gaining benefit from Rimuru and wouldn't be so heavy-handed. Then again I suppose those leaders would be sitting back and observing, like Maribel. Maybe we'll see them later.
It's odd that they lack their own retinues.

I'm surprised Rimuru is jumping straight to joining the council. Maribel who seems to be a well-meaning character who still has misconceptions about Rimuru's intentions. That lack of trust suggests to me that joining the council is a bit premature and instead Rimuru should develop weaker relationships with the council. Trust is a process after all. Then again I suppose if the council is being overly beckoning then one should take advantage of this shortcut in the trust process.
(But then again if Rimuru hasn't scaled up his industries and developed a cour of experienced diplomats, he could end up making a bad first impression on the members.)

Forgive me for analysing and critiquing despite having only watched one episode.

>A competent leader would be more earnest in gaining benefit from Rimuru and wouldn't be so heavy-handed
There is a very obvious reason for this behavior, which would have been apparent for anyone who saw the previous 2 episodes, which you didn't, so it's understandable why you don't understand it. Then again, there are plenty of people in this thread who did see them yet also didn't realize it. Just because last week was a break due to golden week they all forgot about the information from previous episodes...
>Maribel who seems to be a well-meaning character who still has misconceptions about Rimuru's intentions
Here as well you are lacking context. Rimuru and Mariabel cannot co-exist as rulers without at least one of them surrendering entirely. Their goals are in direct conflict with each other but time is on Rimuru's side, so Mariabel is cornered and is forced to make a move or she'll lose all of her remaining leverage.

I'm surprised that Rimuru, after having serious trouble with attacks that used anti-magic areas, didn't order the construction of powerful non-magical weapons or hybrid weapons with magical screening elements. Besides, the Great Sage could have been a big help with that.
During the attack on Falmuth, machine gun fire could have dampened the war criminal knights’ enthusiasm.
For Isekajjin with super-fast perception, you’d need something stronger, but since Shogo had barely 100x perception acceleration, he’d have trouble dodging something like a Claymore mine or another fragmentation bomb detonated near.

Unlike unique forms of technology that Rimiru has created with the great abundance of magic and mana at his disposal, earth tech doesn't require anything esoteric to make. Anybody could make guns, bombs, etc if they knew how. That means once you unleash that kind of tech on the world, there's no putting the genie back in the bottle, nothing stopping an arms race from developing the exact way it did on earth.

The reason this is a bad idea for Rimiru is that he's not particularly knowledgeable about earth weapons. He was a mild mannered salaryman in a largely gun-free country. The possibility that there's another isekaijin out there who is both more knowledgeable about modern Earth weapons, and more willing to use them, is not low enough to make this decision carelessly.

There's also the fact that Rimiru doesn't really need such weapons to defend himself or his people. The anti-magic field is the kind of ace in the hole that, once its precise method of deployment is known, it loses a tremendous amount of its advantage. The fact that Rimiru also developed countermeasures against it means the chances of it being effective against him ever again are slim. It's still technically a threat against him, but it's not a weapon that can be relied on as an ace in the hole any longer. They'll need to bring something else to bear to threaten him enough to make the anti-magic field viable.

Which is why it's not a good idea to hand those people weapons that don't require magic to function or manufacture, and which greatly amplify the deadly force of a non-magical army and give even regular humans the capacity to wage war on vastly stronger races.
>>
>>287996929
right, shizu
I always get their names mixed up
>>
>>287996959
Oh, and there's pretty much no way they could stop the tech from leaking out. People would eventually smuggle firearms out of Tempest, and since there's nothing magical about their construction or use, reverse-engineer them. That is more or less how knowledge and use of firearms spread around Europe.
>>
>>287974131
Not the guy you are replying to, but I find it kind of funny that at least three people ITT had an entire theatre to themselves when watching the movie.
>>
>>287996959
All in all, you’re pretty much right. But they should still set up a top-secret research facility, for example in a zone created by Ramiris, like this dungeon.
The arms race is already underway, and the risk of an attack on Jura is enormous.
Maybe simple guns and bombs would only make sense at the very beginning. But hybrid weapons like Megiddo are a whole different story.
And as for knowledge, doesn’t the Great Sage happen to know a thing or two about making this kind of stuff? Or could he figure out how to replicate it using the tools available here?
You can also create purely physical weapons with the help of magic.
>>
>>287997160
I would bet on a very short, focused, high-energy flash at the right frequency.
That is, barring some powerful manipulation of time and space, this is inevitable, because information cannot travel faster than light. Therefore, even if the struck opponent had accelerated thinking, they wouldn’t realize they were being shattered into subatomic particles.
At most, a very strong passive defense against physical attacks would help here.

It doesn't matter because the Eastern Empire is already mass producing modern earth weapons. And it's actually far more than just guns.
>>
>>287997160
>for example in a zone created by Ramiris, like this dungeon.
I would still say it's too much of a risk. It's pure hubris to create the only weapons that could possibly threaten you, believe they are totally secure, and eventually have them stolen or smuggled out from under your nose. There's simply no good reason for setting yourself up like this when you have tremendous advantages as long as such weapons are not in play. This is akin to a Bond villain installing a big, conspicuous self-destruct button for his whole lair which he leaves lightly guarded next to an air duct large enough for an adult man to crawl through.

>The arms race is already underway
Presumably, because it seems very much like somebody has a rifle. But they need to confirm this before they make any moves (for reasons already stated). Thankfully, Rimiru actually has a pretty excellent intelligence service for this job. If it turns out somebody already has firearm production capabilities, then he can start developing countermeasures for the inevitable armies of riflemen, artillery guns, and probably tanks. With magic (and Dwarves), Rimiru would be able to vastly out-produce his rivals if he decided to manufacture weapons, so as long as he is well-informed he does not have to be first to make them. Indeed, he shouldn't be first.

>And as for knowledge, doesn’t the Great Sage happen to know a thing or two about making this kind of stuff?
Honestly, not sure. The Sage could definitely help with the science-based issues of developing weapons, and probably some of the more intuitive parts of modern military strategy, at a bare minimum. The Great Sage is something of a deus ex mechina so when in doubt I would default to "yes".

>You can also create purely physical weapons with the help of magic
Yes, which is why I argue Rimiru doesn't need to be first to make guns. The point isn't so much that he can use magic this way, it's that other people can't, at least not nearly to the same capacity.

In that case, Rimiru would be wise to develop countermeasures to firearms. He just needs to become aware of the extent of the Empire's armaments. Thankfully he has pretty much the only shinobi in the world at his beck and call.

>>287997542
It is. That is what responsible governance in the kingdom is about.
>>287997571
>armaments
Ordinary firearms aren’t even the main issue, it’s the development of physics, electronics, and all the other sciences from our world, and then weaving magic into that, which is essentially an extension of physics.
I guess there’s no other option but to use the Ramiris Small World, lock the scientists and engineers in there with their families, and strictly control the flow of information in and out.
Drastic threats require drastic measures, and besides, Rimuru has already shown that when it comes to defending his subjects, he doesn’t mess around (but they'd have to find a way to hide the fact that they, of all them, disappeared). Unless there's another way to avoid spying and leaks, but IRL we know what happened at Los Alamos.
>Thankfully he has pretty much the only shinobi in the world at his beck and call.
I’d be afraid to send Souei to a place where there might be modern physical-magical sensors.

Against Tempest, firearms are already of little use by this point.
>>287997632
It's more about firearms being good for culling very weak enemies and monsters usually have a higher floor in terms of basic specs compared to humans. Humans make up for their weaknesses with Arts, which are techniques that need to be learned and practiced a lot, which is an advantage in some cases, such as Orc Lords whose army can absorb innate powers that human's don't have, but when faced with firearms then humans that have a worse base-spec starting point are far more vulnerable compared to monsters that e.g. have innate skills for creating thick armor or even outright regeneration.
>>
>>287985765
Doubly funny considering they know Rimuru is a demon lord. As in "I can blow up your country". It's like going to Satan's face and yelling "YOU PUSSY".
>>
>>287997931
The Falmuth Army has already demonstrated its incompetence in many ways, and despite having truly powerful units, it still lost.
After all, they knew about area-of-effect magic and used it themselves; they gathered their troops in cramped camps, in a small area, without digging in, what could go wrong?
On top of that, there was a lack of communication between units, if Hinata had been informed in time that Rimuru was slaughtering the army, she could have seriously hindered him.
There was supposedly intelligence, but it was limited to organizing an ambush on Rimuru. They didn’t know there were more dangerous monsters outside the city.
Besides, Clayman was using electronic signals that Rimuru intercepted, so electronics are present there. Firearms too, since we recently saw them being used.
They should definitely open Top Secret Los-Ramiros research and development facility.

Exactly, if Falmuth had held proper briefings, especially given the presence of experienced officers, and as a result had prepared and fought in accordance with military doctrine, avoiding making a slew of basic mistakes, they would have won.

If the cat's out of the bag, then Rimiru should be going all-in on modern warfare because otherwise he is simply ceding a technological advantage to his enemies. He arguably doesn't need guns at all for his armies, but electronics are another matter entirely. Air power, too, but given how many large flying creatures there are, plus magical flight, airplanes aren't the same level of game-changer. Electronic communications alone would be more valuable than any other tech Rimiru could develop, and it would only stand to enhance his military capabilities. And his economic capabilities. Basically just an overall force multiplier.

Best part is, it's much, much harder for spies to smuggle out the secret of electronic communication. An electronic communications network has many components to make it functional and is a large infrastructural project that can't be speedily replicated even if they do manage to somehow reverse engineer it from odds and ends smuggled out of the country. It could take years before any of his rivals managed to build their own communications networks even if the tech leaked out while Rimiru was still developing it.

Also, it might actually be a good idea for Rimiru to deliberately leak the tech to his enemies, because they likely would have no clue how to create secure lines or prevent wire tapping and signal interception. He could give them a means to communicate which they would assume is private. If Rimiru himself contracted to build out the communications networks of these countries, he could build his wire taps into the initial build out.

>>287998172
>Against Tempest, firearms are already of little use by this point.
firearms from v13 could make fodder of cannon fodder like hobgoblin infantry in minutes. a hit would probably retire an unnamed mob kijin. even gobta and co are serious about avoiding direct hits.
>>
>>287998440
Why dismantle that infrastructure right away? As long as there isn’t an all-out war, it’s enough to reveal only what we know the enemy has, while developing, producing and storing the interesting stuff in the "basement".
Basically, advanced scientific development would have to go underground.
Besides, the enemy could be doing exactly the same thing, not every country is as stupid as Falmuth.

Have you lost your mind? Underestimating your opponent is one of the worst possible mistakes.
It’s common knowledge that they summon isekaijins, they’ve been doing it for ages so probably have developed magical-physical techniques, so handing them such things on a silver platter would be the height of stupidity.
An IRL example? The US feeding technology to “stupid and backward” China.

he announced wire based remote mental calls complete with mental imagery >>287992546
>they likely would have no clue how to create secure lines
simple comms on the level of radio are not revolutionary in the least. most stronger characters can mentally talk already including temple knights.

i think rimuru should have by now invested in expanding his reishi-based ("holy") casting system with spells that forcibly dismantle holy fields, anti magic areas and so on. like, they blast the spell frameworks apart like gram demolition in mahouka. that would sidestep the whole problem, and he's already hosting a reishi spell network thanks to luminous. it's all one raphael compute-minute away.

It makes you paranoid every time someone gets uncharacteristically angry/irritated/irrational, making you speculate that maybe someone was trying to mindcontrol this or that character which in the end might or might not have succeeded. Most obvious example that had already been shown is Clayman, though in his case it's even been stated directly.
>>
>>287998771
We saw that magical communication could be jammed, so they need redundancy.
By the way, ARPANET was created precisely to provide redundancy for military communications. If a single node or cable/transmitter-reciver goes down? No problem, the packets automatically take a detour.
Magical communication, physical communication, maybe a mix of both, plus underground cables.
This is incredibly important. Even more so than an advantage in firepower.

You call it "wire based" but it's actually going through the shadow realm so it's essentially in another dimension and only possible to interfere with if you have shadow- or space-related abilities yourself, so it's much safer from sabotage than regular wires would be. Also because it goes through the shadow realm, it can circumvent what would normally be "obstacles" in the real world.
Similarly, Rimuru and Souei also built the hotspring bath by connecting the hotspring bath with pipes to the hotspring source via the shadow realm.
>>
anons, why didn't Guy notice rimuru used beelzebub in front of his face like 10 times during walpurgis?
>>
>>287999022
And that’s great; solutions like this make sense for communication between more distant locations. The question is also how resistant it is to countermeasures, and, actually, what kinds of countermeasures could disrupt it.
These are exactly the kinds of things that should be studied.
But for regular military forces at the tactical level, communication technology is still necessary.
>>
>>287999022
>only possible to interfere with if you have shadow- or space-related abilities yourself
Souei shadow communication with Rimuru was heavily obstructed by Hinata's field, so it's not impossible to disrupt.

I mean, there's some similarities. Both Ainz and Rimiru were 30-something salarymen who died on earth and woke up in a new fantasy world in a nonhuman body (Ainz is a skeleton), and there's inexplicable video gamey aspects to this world that they can exploit, both have godlike powers (Ainz starts with his, Rimiru works up to it) and essentially engage in a nation building fantasy, acquiring powerful minions (again, Ainz already starts with insanely overpowered minions).

The main difference though is that Ainz's faction is evil. He himself isn't evil at all, at worst he can just be callous when his undead nature starts suppressing his human emotions. His minions, though, are absolutely evil. And I don't just mean "they fight the generic 'good guy races and are misunderstood", I mean they enslave, torture, and casually slaughter anyone who resists them, even good, decent people. They are sadists, they are willfully cruel, they enjoy causing pain to "inferior races". Ainz tries to rein them in, but he's less and less able to do so as the story goes on and their plans grow beyond his comprehension. He is, afterall, just a salaryman, and his NPCs are all super high spec monsters a few of which have genius IQs. He's left guessing what they're planning and have to make like he understands it to live up to their image of him as an all-powerful, all-knowing being. Not that they'd ever express disappointment in him, they just interpret whatever he says or does as some unfathomable 11D chess move if it appears to be stupid on its face.

It's a lot more of a power fantasy than Tensura is, which is more what I'd call a nation building fantasy. There's nation building in Overlord, but it's a lot more about being a massively over-leveled, unfathomably powerful evil wizard that the people of this world truly have no idea how fucked they are. The only thing holding back total genocide / conquest is Ainz himself being extremely cautious and just wanting to chill.

What’s Rimiru’s tax policy?
>>
>>288002494
12.5%
>>
>>288002494
Rimiru is independently wealthy as the private owner of most of Tempest's most profitable enterprises, thus he has no reason to levy taxes on his subjects. They give him enough gifts and throw enough parties in his honor that further taking stuff from them would just be gauche.
>>
>>288002585
He doesn't need taxes anyway, the orcs maintain the roads out of civic pride, there's no need for a standing army because Rimiru's most loyal vassals will fight for him if he asks, or he'll just fight himself. He doesn't need a national health plan because magic. Welfare? Get a job or he'll find one for you. Retirement? He just gave you a name and now you're young and ripped as fuck, welcome back to the workforce motherfucker.
>>
>>288002494
A series of meetings will need to be held to decide on that

I am pretty sure he did notice. Rimuru deliberately showed it off because it's been one of his two main abilities from the start and he wants to hide Raphael, his other main ability from the start, and his other two ultimate skills.
The reason for that is: Guy set up a trap during Walpurgis where only ultimate skill-users can penetrate his power-camouflage and when Rimuru did penetrate it, Guy already knew that Rimuru possessed at least one ultimate skill, so at that point Rimuru used Beelzebuth to hide his three other ultimate skills.

It's probably just a way to better plan the production instead of having to wait for permission for the next season every time. In the end these first two consecutive cours are just like the previous full seasons. At this point Tensura is one of the biggest contenders for "long-running isekai that are likely to get a full adaptation" alongside Overlord, Re:Zero and Mushoku Tensei.

When that dude got shot in Tempest I just assumed Rimuru did a subtle Megiddo because his AI companion (presumably) did a calculation and suggested taking out the unstable guy and then Rimuru led the others to suspect a gun because he just hadn't got around to introducing that concept to them which is a security concern with otherworlders.
Then Rimuru blindly following Raphael's suggestion leading to him getting scolded by Shuna showing that he's made a habit of just going along with its suggestions... like modern gpt zombie brains.
While of course this was just me projecting unwarranted traits onto Rimuru it would still be an interesting thread to follow through to realize his schizo genie computer is making him lazy and having to put it down and get gud himself. I know, things that will never happen.
>>
>>288005453
What is that sound that always plays whenever someone does something?
It's like a sound effect that plays right before an impact. Nut they literally use it for everything. I think I heard it before Rimuru drank Shion's tea that one time.
>>
Wow Hinata is so amazing, bros. Everyone loves her and she is best at everything. should be the main character for the story from now on.
