Does Ainz Ooal Gown being from modern Japan ever become relevant to the plot?
>>
>>287988103
No.
>>
>LN still has no ending
>>
>>287988103

wrong. Ainz brings ideas from japan into the new world all the time, but just pretends he is super genius for inventing it. He used to be a civil engineering contractor salaryman so hes not dumb. A lot of this also comes from Albedo and Demiurge who are actual geniuses with high INT stats and have knowledge from the real world input by their creators. They do the heavy lifting but also defer to Ainz for the final say. Very rarely will one of Ainz's ideas be questioned. He once tried to have uniforms made for everyone in nazarick, like a sports team or typical jap school uniform, and Albedo was so disgusted by the idea he gave up on it.

He isn't from modern Japan.
He is from dystopian shithole, future Japan.
Outside of one instance of seeing nature that hasn't been turned into a sludge toilet, it never matters anyways.
>>
>>287988840
>dystopian shithole, future Japan.
yea, modern japan

Oh, that's a bummer - a friend of mine was really into Overlord, so he'll be sad to hear that.
>>
>>287988901
He says it's because of western pirates, but I think he was just tired of writing it.
>>
>>287988957
sound way more plausible then pirats.

What do you guys like about this series? I watched through season 3 and a little bit of season 4 but started losing interest when I realized it was just another overpowered protagonist story.
I'm not dogging on anyone or implying that the series is bad. I just want to know what the fans of the series like about it. What keeps you coming back to it to read/watch?

>overpowered protagonist story
This is indeed the whole point.

>I just want to know what the fans of the series like about it. What keeps you coming back to it to read/watch?
Pure power fantasy story where main character is the strongest being in the world, has everything and commands the most powerful faction full of hot monster girls calling him -sama
+
Protagonist is a cool-looking skeleton.
>>
>>287989291
It's funny, and I like how the regular mortal characters interact with the unstoppable protagonist and friends.
>>
>>287988103
It's the only reason he isn't fucking his harem
>>
>>287989291
the part about Ains dealing with loneliness is done very well in the manga/LN
the anime is terrible
>>
>>287988957
>new world consists of european looking humans
>they are all greedy, stupid and corrupt
he probably hates whito peepo
>>
>>287993123
Ains' OC is Hitler themed though (another reason why I like him) but I guess that just so he's more morally gray or because they knew it would be appealing to the audience. Ains also tries to hide and silence his personality, I take it as a sign of him losing his Humanity. So Hitler good and Hitler White Saviour so author like White people- is my logic. But I'm rambling

Is this faggot ever going to make another novel or is he THAT mad about western fantranslations still?

>could add stakes by introducing yggdrasil players
but no, have another volume of ainzwank and you westoid better not illegally read this nippon exclusive side story
>>
>>287990651
My favourite part was how normal humans had a level cap of 30, while players could go up to 100. That and the MMO style world.
>>
>>287996333
writers that want to work with stakes don't write isekai in the first place
Isekai is the 'get rich quick scheme' of genres

Yes, it's pretty important. He is just a salaryman who doesn't know how the fuck to lead anyone so he LARPs as an emperor but in reality he runs his guild like a modern Japanese company, trying to give his employees (guardians) things like time off, vacations, etc. It's half the fun of the series watching him fumble his way through being a leader while running his world conquering empire like a fucking business
>>287989291
I love it to death, one of my favorite series. It is really funny and has a lot of jokes, it is very good at doing amusing dramatic irony. I'm also a sucker for world building and I like the world in this series. The last two LNs were enjoyable but definitely noticeably weak compared to the others. At this point I'd rather the series stay permadead and never finish just so the author can't fuck it up even further
>>
>erm, I read that he's the strongest, so why doesn't he know he's the strongest and just bulldoze the world without a care im a very smart reader I saw that he was strong
Overlord haters really are just that retarded
>>

>stakes
Stakes this, stakes that. Why is it always about stakes? The stakes in this series, if you can call it that, are from the perspective of the side characters. If you watch the story from the perspective of any important side character not from Nazarick, there are a ton of stakes. If they say one wrong thing they and their whole country gets deleted. Part of the idea of overlord is to follow the "villain" and thus there are inherently different "stakes." To Ainz, the biggest problem to him (his stakes) are not whether he can beat a player or if there's something strong in the world, but rather that he doesn't want to lose the trust and loyalty of his friends and guild, he wants to maintain the image. So to him, anything that might make his subordinates lose faith in him, or that might tarnish his name or his guilds name, are the real stakes. Why do you guys just want more fightfaggotry when that's not what the series is about?
>>
>>287997385
You're expecting reading comprehension and media analysis from people who can't even read. Overlord, as simple as it is, is too complicated for the average anime fan, much less the type of fightfag who consumes battleanime primarily who got drawn into the Overlord anime because of Madhouse.

>>
>>287996333
That one fic, Shards of the Eight, focuses on eight different players who loathe each other. The problem is that the pace is glacially slow.
>>
>>287997385
This is because Ainz's powers are all about fighting and fighting is a huge part of the story. To be blunt, all of the problems he's facing are effectively inconsequential or in his own head.
It's basically a guy with godlike superpowers, who has social anxiety. While that may be interesting conceptually, practically it doesn't matter.

I generally enjoyed watching the seasons of this anime but it’s complete turned me off of the whole genre as a whole.
Any show I’ve watched since that has some comically op mc utilizing his army of comically op servants who suck him off constantly now gives me the ick.
Idk why, but it just pisses me off now like it’s some kind of 5 year old retard fantasy “durr hurrr I have the power to have all powers and you instantly die haha I win” and then the henchman: “omg he sooooo cool I love him”. Rinse and repeat ad nauseum.
I will say AT LEAST overlord had its own interesting shtick of focusing on little towns/cultures for a whole season and then just rage bait fucking them all up by the end which was retarded in its own right but at least it was pretty unique and interesting to watch in that regard.

I liked the aesthetic, the art and designs were great, but it's a little annoying that not much is done with them. Look at Evileye for example, she has a SINGLE fight and spends the rest of the series crushing on Momon. I don't think she actually interacts with him more than once.
You sort of get the problem of having a lot of cool characters who stand around and do nothing, or just die shortly after their debut.

That's the entire point of the story, all his problems are his own making and in his head but he doesn't realize it.
>>
I love Shalltear especially in her disguise. That's all.
The first season of Overlord was good and there was still a feeling that there may come a challenge soon. But the rest was rather mediocre especially season 4. I miss when Momon was still a thing.

How the hell did it take you that long to realise that? It was fairly obvious by the end of the first episode, and then by the fifth episode it was ridiculously blatant.

Have you seen The Unwanted Undead Adventurer? That's kinda like a whole show of Momon.
