It's right at the start of volume 8, the bit after the raid on Shiranui's shrine when she takes a bath at Kamon's place and has the argument with Mao. Given that they've apparently got 26 episodes, they'll easily make it that far.

This episode was the best so far but also felt... underwhelming? Like these are the most impactful events as of yet in the story, what with Mao's transformation, the Byouki confrontation, Nanoka's childhood memory reveal and yet it felt like just an above average episode with nice action cuts. Is Sunrise even trying with Mao?

The quality has fluctuated a lot so far, both between and within episodes. I think episode 2 was overall the best directed one so far.
Hopefully they'll be a bit more in their element once we start getting more supporting characters and human vs human fights.
