Has any series ever successfully pulled off the "dead guys return in final arc" trope?
I feel like it wasn't really that bad in Naruto, the arc itself just felt bloated.
>>288003075 It would have been better if we got more time and arc to see the characters before the war. Regarding the edo tensei. I think it was ok. It was coherent with the themes of using people as tools, and even if they die their bodies and souls can still be salvaged to continue fighting. However, character drama like Asuma, Sai's brotehr or Tsunade's boyfriend didn't land for me.
Nardo designs were so fucking ugly, god.

>>288003075I feel like it focused way too much on Naruto going across the battlefield helping everyone while offscreening some possible great fights like Kakashi vs rhe 7 Swordsmen
>>288003050It was cool during the fight against the 3rd Hokage, any use after that was retarded.
>>288003050>"dead guys return in final arc"E N T E R
>>288003050Yeah, Naruto in Part 1 where they were soulless zombies. But in Part 2 they turned it to shit by trying to make them quirky.
>>288003075it's half of the manga and worse for it
>>288005668It's "only" a third. And yes, the manga is worse for it, but only because of the length and how many of the dead guys were irrelevant fodder.
>>288003158Kishi really tried to do way too much stuff for the last arc.>3 great villages that were there since the beginning but got barely any focus (except Zabuza arc)>dead guys from all these villages we never heard about before>dead guys we did actually know>more lore from before the villages>lore from before the lore from before the villages>constant main villain switcheroos>in the end 99% of this was fluff since all that matters is Team 7, Obito, Madara and Hashirama, two brothers, Sage and Kaguya
