My question is why is the music in this show so totally mediocre? Maybe it's just me but does anybody feel strongly about the music so far? That's the part that's so confusing to me, the director obviously worked with Symphogear but he also did a fuck ton of Bandori work so why is the music here so mindless?

The lyrics relay the stories of the historical figure in question as well as the feelings they may have felt in life, not much to do with Seria's feelings or the plot. The spirits are a power system and not main characters as far as I can tell too.

Seria's part is pretty clearly about her being unable to hide all that stuff about being possessed and not knowing what will happen from now on; Cleopatra's part isn't just about her goal of finding her child, it's also mixed with consolation for Seria, which is a pretty good hint that they've actually known each other before. There's also the problem of the translations not being that accurate. For example, the part where Cleo sang>輝く金色煌めく翠玉 絶美優美 すべてを手に入れ>人の涙流す血潮も 己が愛の糧と贄化粧として塗りたくる>本当はもう誰もいらない 「救われたい」と願うのは罪か？をisn't just referring to herself, but is her trying to relate to Seria's situation and calming her down, basically saying "you don't need your fake old life anyway, just focus on the fun stuff." (More obvious if you listened to the full version though)To be fair, I think Tesla and Nightingale's songs are probably more one-sided compared to the others, though they actually still relate to the plot and Seria's situation in their respective episodes, even if only a bit. Cleo, Okita, and Lakshmibai's songs have more playfulness in them and feel more like duets. (Gifted is still awesome though)
