>the series is about Violet learning to love herself and create an identity>her development is subtle and slow, leaving it in the air that she has planted the seeds for growth>she accepts the pain of the Major's absence, but the ending is left openGood show.>now the Major is alive, giving Violet's small development an instant, thematically pointless reward>the film is two hours of flashbacks, light reflections, and poor pacingWhy they ruined her little beaitiful show?
Literally
>>288037247Yea, I love happy endings. Thinkin' it's kino.
>>288037247Women
Not sure if speedwatcher or just dumb
>>288037247all fujo shows have random endings>usagi dropmc marries his adopted child (0 thematic coherence)>rakugomc fucks with his adopted child (it has thematic coherence)>violetthe major is alive! NOW CRY PLEASE CRYYYYYY (questionable thematic coherence)
>>288037622Explain then
>>288037716How about noI don't care about stupid peopleCya
>>288037247It was clearly a cash grab.
>>288037737Thank you!!
I would not care but for the fact that Gilbert was Violet's childhood guardian and commanding officer and anyone in his position would rightly be ostracized for taking advantage or worse but then again the person who opened up the world for you and saw you as human when everyone treated you like a monster is someone worth falling in love withand him giving her a name when she had none is so intimate and romanticit's a bit of an infantilist women's fantasy, and I'd prefer if she was 15 then 19 in the main story to calm my muh daughter instinct, but all in all I'm down for itnow I wonder how appropriate people would think it would be if an old hermit elven wizard showed kindness to a lost little girl and she would form a crush on him and go on to recruit him on her quest to defeat the demon king in hopes that he would fall in love with the world and mankind
>>288037247>>the series is about Violet learning to love herself and create an identity>TV anime concludes with Violet stating she'll always believe he's live and out there somewhereDid you watch the show with your eyes closed? Or just brain turned off?
>>288038979she puts all those thoughts in a letter and then lets it fly away, and in doing so she's able to express her feelings so she can move on from themI'd have to read the books for the proper context, since KyoAni is known to rearrange and misconstrue events to create a thesis statement that wasn't there
>>288037247The worst part for me was that all the things I heard about the movie made it seem like it's a guaranteed 10/10 masterpiece, especially for those who liked the show. It was total dogshit and a waste of time. They recycled the Kyoukai no Kanata movie plot just to fill in 2 hours and leave it off with an extremely predictable ending.
Tired of faggy bittersweet media, everything irl sucks for a lot of people and everybody I talk to is depressed, might as well try to have happy media for a change
>>288039188I think the real problem is the fact that Kanna Akatsuki decided to have them reunite at all in the original story (and in a way worse way in the novel). She clearly was more focused on the romance when writing the novel, whereas Ishidate was more interested in the character of Violet's growth and development. He stated he was reluctant to do the movie, so it's clear that Ishidate intended to leave the story as a piece of grief and moving on and not have Gilbert come back at all.Personally I liked the movie, but can agree that bringing Gilbert just felt cheap and tacky but the series is melodrama, so it plays into it's strengths to appeal to the audience and get butts in the seats.I think Ishidate did a very nice job with movie's main focus on Daisy/episode 10 and creating a story that showed the impact that Violet's development, and character had. She was more than her obsession with Gilbert; but it just happens that she gets to have her happy ending and with all the death that's happened to kyoani, I think that's nice, personally.
>>288039503I do agree that the movie was a cash-grab that was capitalizing on the success of the series. It's not surprising. The movie definitely was one of the key things keeping kyoani going under during the arson, so maybe I'm more biased to my feelings to it as well. Stuff like the fact that they credited the two IT dudes who managed to recover the movie from the fire damaged server. The movie felt like it had so much genuine hope and gratitude in it, despite everything that happened to the studio.
It was way better than the self insert yuri garbage the other movie was fucking dogshit yuritroons tried to ruin violet by making her a dyke for their twisted fantasy fuck you
>entering the age where Ishidate has enough power to do what projects he wantsfirst CITY and now this.Guy isn't relegated to KA Esuma anymore - How exciting!
>>288037247>>the series is about Violet learning to love herself and create an identityNo it isn't.
>>288037343Heh
>>288040076So what? Just learning about emotions and what love is? It's clearly shown in episode 9 how she's built an identity and no longer depends so much on the major. Learning to relate to others, basic empathy, and being independent are all part of loving yourself.
>>288037555Your mom's a women.
I applaud Kyoani for having the balls to allow Violet to have a romance, especially after the arson attack. I only wish Violet and Gilbert could kiss but I guess that was too much to ask for the current industry
>>288037247This movie is basically KyoAnus using their last chance to soil a series with their typical retardation. Read the light novel if you want a better story. Not that the original series was great, but apart from washing out one cryptolesbian theme it was rather faithful.
