Even in Chocolate Vampire it keeps making sense despite there being no development in their relationship since like the second volume because Tiyo at that point naturally, do to occurences, admits to “probably” liking Setu despite his being an arsehole and then their dynamic stays like that for 14 volumes or whatever but it takes Setu to come within the brink of death in the final battle after jumping in the way for Tiyo and being impaled as a consequence for the latter to finally break down in tears and admit to loving him, doing everything to keep him alive.Yes, it was static for 15 chapters but there was a reason. It turns out that seeing someone almost die from taking a bullet for you can make you realize how much you love him. There was nothing like that in Maid-Sama!, Usui did the same thing he always did but suddenly near the end Misaki acted like a different character and that's an unsatisfying conclusion.Snake & Butterfly had even more situations like that that just made it compelling for Ahega to admit to being in love with Kira as their relationship evolved.
