But it does become a problem where the headcanon is the only thing they can do because the manga won't give the character a chance to even develop. Sasuke avoids this because he is one of the most active characters in Naruto regardless how you feel about him as a character. Hitsugaya did get to have his peak moment in TYBW. The only outlier here is Megumi where like many others have said. Has done nothing. And this is already problematic with his personality being a boring stoic edgy guy who isn't actually edgy so all you got was dare I say it, a bum who did nothing.

Sasuke is actually a very good character, I feel like most of his actions make perfect sense, even if you disagree with him. If there's an issue, it's that maybe his problems overtake the manga with the name Naruto.

They figured out megumi's character arc (or whatever gege bothered) is that he wasn't some prodigy with big dreams and motivation. He just wanted away from the sorcery life but fate had other plans by ruining his life from top to bottom. This is also in combination of the narrative that people in universe had big expectations for him because of his potential and are left disappointed with how much of a loser he did end up becoming. He's basically the asian kid with people expecting way too much of them that they crack when trying to handle the pressure This concept is actually good. The problem is that Megumi's character wasn't explored in detailed. The fan could only piece it but even then, megumi had so little focus that it's hard to tell what even was the intention of his character.

Since you guys are talking about Megumi's controversial writing (or lack thereof). Guess I've been wanting to ask this questionHow come Yuji never felt any anger towards Megumi? I read the whole manga but I never could get why Yuji never hold contempt for Megumi for ruining his life? Sure, some might argue Yuji would've become a sorcerer because of Kenjaku but Megumi more or less escalated all the bad things that happen to Yuji. For all of JJK up to Modulo. You can actually pinpoint all the bad things that happen to Yuji is the direct cause of Megumi being a fuckup so how come? Yuji isn't a rainbows and sunshine type of MC like Naruto. He doesn't forgive wrongdoings.
