>>288059952I've only been following the manga but the reason she's hiding it is entirely straightforward. She's trying to overcompensate for what she perceives as the proper way to act as a lady. She also doesn't want to do anything that would cause her or her mother to look bad based on the standards she has in her head. I don't think we need to see how her step-father reacts to rock in the beginning to understand that she is either projecting a fear or is basing that off of something we haven't seen yet justifies this.

Her mom's mentality can coast on readers/viewers being aware that both of them came from a poorer environment and finding them in the good graces of wealth and power. The rest can be developed so the only complaint I get is that it hasn't happened soon enough for some people's taste but I don't think it makes the story aimless or disjointed. Because the manga has so far been very consistent with it the whole run as far as I've read. It's even a plot point that the big tiddied pianist finally starts to get in on the banter. which I don't know if the anime covered or not.
