This time, the "Hamazura (Anelli) vs. Kamijou (Kamijou)" fight and "Index's rival, Nartex" were the two things that excited me the most.

My reactions as a "Road Closed" otaku continue. It's long and full of spoilers.

Hamazura: "Academy City must have swallowed 'something' and handed me over to England. I was hoping the British would judge me fairly." "
Accelerator scolds Kanzaki over a small radio, saying, "Make up your mind. Are you trying to protect Academy City or destroy it?!" He looks like he's holding his head in his hands again.

Accelerator also says, "If you understand, then hurry up and go to the center of the commotion, you idiot. The destruction will only spread without limit." It's good that he can finally tell Kamijo to go to the scene. Birdway and Lesser teased Accelerator from a safe distance, saying "Of course you'd get help," to which Accelerator replied in a low tone, "Do you two want to be ground together, you little brats?" which was amusing. Kamijou's reaction, "You've become close enough to play with the first-class opponent. Aren't you fearless?" was hilarious.

It seems that the "Transcendent" is causing trouble by taking sides with both the pursuer and the pursued in the Hamazura incident, delaying the reconstruction of Academy City and causing significant damage to the international airport, so they want Kamijou, Birdway, and Lesser to stop him. Furthermore, he seemed displeased, saying "This is my city, and I don't like it," and apparently he doesn't understand the movements of the Anglican Church either, which was cute. It was sad to see N-san looking so dejected, having lost his position as the Grand Bishop.

Accelerator's comment, "(Experts) are just being overly sensitive. Isn't that why their actions are escalating?" shows understanding of being left out by the Anglican Church and the fact that Academy City is being used as a battlefield, but he still explains and reports to the best of his ability, even though it's a magic-related matter, suggesting the cause might be something to do with Coronzon. Truly a genius, and I'm grateful for that.

Kamijou's reaction to hearing Last Order and Christmas Party say "Misaka will do it" and "Taking care of Master is my job" over the phone is heartbreaking... (Only Accelerator knows what he's really thinking after hearing it firsthand.) If Last Order hadn't saved Accelerator in Genesis 1, we wouldn't have heard such peaceful voices, and if Accelerator had been destroyed, we wouldn't be in this relationship as comrades with a shared will to protect those we cherish. Thinking about that makes this otaku overwhelmed with emotion.

Last Order, the main heroine, appeared to inject vitality into Accelerator, who was near death after taking a direct hit from Coronzon's attack! My ultimate favorite! Even just one line of dialogue makes me cry! I'm so glad she's doing well, I love her so much! Honestly, I was worried that the free pass might be a one-night-only special effect, so I thought she wouldn't appear this time (because they like to keep their main love interest, Last Order, in a separate location to avoid danger). But thank you so much, Kamachi-sensei, I'm so happy! I remembered how Toa and her sisters were fighting over who would take care of her. It's the same even with Christmas party partners, how cute! Even in an emergency, the usual everyday atmosphere was so comforting. I can imagine Accelerator's bewildered expression as he heard it up close.

I love seeing the hero and heroine burn with passion for each other and their actions, so I've been really enjoying Genesis Testament lately! I love the Upper In, Hama Taki, and Road Closure scenes, thank you! I honestly dislike scenarios where the hero is overly protective of other heroes, or where the hero feels inferior to other heroes or has unrealistic expectations and beliefs, so I prefer this level of interaction—not about superiority or inferiority, but a more down-to-earth relationship that's refreshing and easy to read.

"If Academy City falls apart, sooner or later, there's a possibility that the entire larger world that extends 'outside' will also fall apart." In the narration by Kanzaki, who is concerned about the threat of Coronzon, I remembered how in volume 14, the new supervisor Accelerator said in the narration, "Academy City's science and technology are 20 or 30 years ahead. In other words, if this city succeeds, the wider world outside will follow suit. And if it fails, a downfall is also possible." and it got me all fired up.

Regarding the facility, Kripa said in the previous volume, "My master has only recently been introduced to magic and doesn't know much about it. Precisely because he really doesn't know, he can't think of a way to evade questions about the device that has been buried in Academy City for so long." And, "This is a development of sealing technology to prevent it from being made in the 'outside' world by monopolizing military patents first, right?" Regarding weapons, Accelerator made that comment, and the new, busy, and still-inexperienced Chairman Hamazura, speaking through the disaster prevention speaker, said, "We don't need military weapons. I'd rather you come up with an excuse to dispose of them," asking for the destruction of weapons that existed even before he took office. This made the otaku smile. It's wonderful to think that the top of the science side is thinking about the peace of the people through his words and actions!

Then the topic of "systems" came up, and he immediately fell silent, so I thought he was asking Kuripa about it behind the scenes. He dismissed it as a "conspiracy theory," but then he said, "Billions of tiny, insignificant thoughts come together to make the big world turn." To hear those words from Accelerator... Yomikawa-sensei! You're making the otaku cry! "When humans gain power, they turn into monsters. That's why I'm serving as Chairman so that no one becomes like that." I love the words of my favorite character here, his resolve is so strong! I'll support you forever.

Hamazura's line, "There's no such thing as not being able to help people unless it's good or just," reminded me of Accelerator's dark side arc and the Russia arc in the Old Testament.

Kamijou and Birdway Lesser are in danger of failing a year, and the brother and the arrogant little sister team are going to act together. I wondered what happened to Index and Othinus, but it turns out Kamijou was sentenced to head directly to District 23 from school to retrieve some documents, so Index and the others were left behind this time. But then at the end, that girl appears...! Who could have predicted that?! I never expected a new character from Index to appear here, I was so surprised! The apple part instantly brought to mind the illustration by Haimura-sensei of Index holding out a bitten apple with both hands.

During the fight with Nartex, the line "You're not Index" made my heart skip a beat. Just the presence of any Kamijou Touma element makes my heart race. The narration saying "This girl is Index who never met Kamijou Touma" was a relief, but it's so cruel that she seems to have slipped through the cracks and I gasped. Stop it, it's painful, it's funny, I have two hearts! The final line, "Just give that girl her life and future back already!!" brought the rampaging anti-magician created by Coronzon to a halt and brought the conflict to an end, but she wasn't saved, which is frustrating. It's unclear how Coronzon felt about Nartex; it seems like she had complex emotions, but either way, it's interesting. It wouldn't be surprising if she developed feelings for him during her time as the Grand Bishop. At the end, she seemed to be highlighted by the sunlight of Birdway's organization's awakening, so I'm looking forward to seeing her in action next. I want to see a group picture of all the children created by Coronzon alongside Index!!

In the scene where Kamijou and Hamazura talk about what they know about Coronzon, Hamazura sees her as a lonely, pitiful girl, and the more he talks about her, the more he reduces her to a small, insignificant being. He doesn't stop her from activating Adi-Kalika, but rather pushes it in. The suicide scene was so terrifying I got goosebumps. I also thought it was uncharacteristic of Hamazura to become so emotional and try to leave a lasting impression through tragedy. His curses directed at Kamijou weren't really helping Coronzon at all. Is it only those with special powers who can change things? I thought Hamazura could change fate in his own way, even without such powers. What is that "something" in the background?! Even Accelerator doesn't have that kind of composure, Hamazura! Looking forward to the next volume!

Even though she's been working hard since the last volume to search for Coronzon and help Hamazura, she's not invincible even though she might become the eighth esper. Takitsubo teams up with the Anglican Church to track down Hamazura who has run away, and I laughed when Kanzaki made a face that said, "Don't talk about a world only lovers understand." And I thought it was cool when Kanzaki got annoyed at Takitsubo for still doubting her and threatened her by saying, "I can betray you now if I want to," and when she declared, "I certainly want to help Hamazura, but I don't intend to spoil him that much. It's not fair to take advantage of his weaknesses and extract concessions," but then immediately after that she said, "So all I have to do is let Hamazura win and get acquitted, right?" and I laughed at her sudden shift to a dark way of thinking to solve the problem. This is why I love the main characters of Index! "Ah, as expected of Takitsubo. It's no wonder I fell for you," Hamazura said, gushing about her, lol. The scene where everyone in the Anglican Church goes crazy gave me goosebumps. I was just assuming one of them was betraying them, but thank you, Mama, for saving Takitsubo!


"Then you should have called me already, partner," Kamijou said, and I think all the otaku rejoiced at his appearance. "In the end, you're just letting the Coronzon in your head blab about your biggest desires and pushing the guilt onto her," otaku could only nod in agreement. "This world is full of mistakes, but it still moves towards happiness, little by little," Kamijou said, stopping Hamazura from committing suicide, and it was wonderful. Send that to Coronzon!

These are just my personal impressions and reactions as a roadblock otaku, so they're very biased, but I was thrilled to see the main heroine and the new character with a setting I really liked. It was fun! Will the next volume be about the trial starting from the British side? I'm looking forward to it! I was delighted to see Kamachi-sensei's sadistic remark in the afterword: "Imagine Accelerator, the most important one, holding his head in his hands every time something pops up!!" It might be easier to tear everything down and build a new city from scratch, but he doesn't want the easy way out. He wrote that he wants to "transform Academy City into a safe and peaceful place" and that he "willingly atones for his sins," which I absolutely love and it filled my heart with joy! I'm so happy that Accelerator's dream is finally decided! Thank you for volume 15!

unrelated to the manga, I recently started watching Railgun for the first time and have been very much enjoying it. I knew it and Index were sister series but based off the titles, I thought they were more like Portal and Half-Life instead of Opposing Force and Half-Life.
Regardless, Kuroko is very cute. I like her a lot, I've read in old threads she stops being relevant after the adaptations leave off which does make me sad but the flipside consolation is that I can have whatever headcanon I want about her then. I definitely ship her with Mikoto though art of her with the Index guy I've yet to meet is cute too.
Spent a lot of time yesterday rolling around thinking about hugging and frenching her while she obsesses over Mikoto. Thankfully my low income prevents me from impulse buying figures of characters I've only just met but given a month I probably will.

Kamisato arc had a lot of flaws but Kamisato wasn't one.

Is pre-amnesia Touma even much of a character at any point? I'm only a pleb who watched some of the anime but most of the people he interacts with are people he didn't know before and those that he's such a master bullshitter he figures out the relationship in 3 sentences to the point you could remove that story element entirely and it wouldn't make a difference. One time it came up it was relying on him not knowing what his parents look like and that was just some side quest anyway.
