I like it. I mention it every time it comes up but it's a good peek into who Dante is between missions. When he's being, for want of a term, normal. You don't really get too much CUHRAZY action but you do get something more thoughtful.

The atmosphere and tone was fantastic, it had a lot of needed worldbuilding that the games could never find the time to get into and it's loadbearing for Dante's characterization to the point where I consider it required watching for anyone that wants to get into the games. The people that shit on it back then were the proto-retards that see the absolute visual vomit that is "sakuga" and start basedjacking off over it. Which is 100% what it would have been if those retards had their way. DMC 2007 was crazy overhated and it's why DMCfags deserve the Netflix slop they're getting now.
