Probably the most interesting thing about the show is how it changes from fantasy anime adventure to space mecha battles. (That and the OST is incredible, almost too good for such a shallow anime). I wonder how they handled the mechas in the games, I'm guessing it just lets you use them in specific battles, rather than being able to summon the mechas whenever.

From the ones I've played, the Saturn one basically get used for the final battles, and the SNES one iirc uses them as your final new move and maybe for the final fight as well.
