I feel like several steps have been skipped for a while now, when did this started being the case
>>
>>288097552
Inagaki wanted to end it after a certain amount of chapters without realizing how rushed it would be
>>
>>288097552
Ages ago, the anime/manga would never reach its conclusion if the pace kept the same at the start, quite obviously.
This was very likely intentional as well, technological development kinda snowballs, just look at how primitive humans were 200 years ago and the amount of stuff that happened just in the last 100 years.
>>
>>288097552
It's been a while but after the Xeno arc it goes from skipping 2-3 steps to skipping 10-15 steps lol
Also this last arc is rushed AF in the manga
>>
Oh, did they reach the part where they speedrun laying a transoceanic cable across the Pacific? That shit went by so fucking fast in the manga.
>>

>>
Damn excluding the OP there are barely 10 posts in 2 hours

>>
>>288097881
This has been happening for a while, a lot of shows that are on its second, third or beyond season get very few replies, unless it has a dedicated fanbase here already or it is highly "popular" (like rezero and other shit).
>>
>>288097881
The show self-destructed a while ago when it stopped trying to maintain an illusion of realism. For a few seasons now, my experience watching this has been similar to me playing Civ5 and going for the science victory by bulbing scientists every other turn to slingshot myself into future tech. There's no real sense of progression anymore, and thus nothing to discuss aside from pointing out that they're just magically skipping through eras now. At the very least, we need some thought-provoking Kohaku fanservice to breathe some life into these threads.
>>
>>288097881
Yeah, last part of Dr. Stone had this problem of everything happening too fast. Sure, I get the idea of them hitting tech level where you can't just show them crafting things by hand, but that was the best part of the show. I just hope that they're speeding throu everything else so that they can spend some time on the moon.

The show was never remotely good but this last season is so ass. The pacing is absolutely fucked. When they aren't speedrunning science crap they are eating food.

It's funny how wildly different the peak of AI was when the manga was being written and today (2021 vs 2026)
The bit I like about this part of the story is how we shift towards the future of contemporary science. AI is obviously contemporary, but we also have some discussion of the implications of life extension via the Medusa
It is sad how much faster we are zooming through this stuff.
I hoped for some anime original filler to slow stuff down, but I suppose that won't happen. Regardless, I can't be dissatisfied with this great anime adaptation.

The bootstrapping part is the best part of any ex nihilo/progression story. It's the best part of bookworm, best part of RtW, best part of Skyblock maps etc.
Maybe that's because it's easier to make good stories out of simple problems.

People always say this as though inventing X immediately allows you to do Y and Z which are a hundred times more complex but that's not really the case, it's more to do with the broad-based advances in education and industrial engineering that have enabled science to be done by millions more people around the world compared to the old days when it was more limited to the rich elite. For me this is where the problem with this season stems, they're reviving all these people but as far as we see they do nothing but manual labor while all the sciencing remains with Senku and maybe Xeno.

It does feel like that, maybe in the manga stuff was still exciting because of the mystery...

But the anime doesn't have that luxury and the pacing is all wonky, also... To me, it feels like there is no tension anymore... Like a victory lap, at least until they reach the moon.

I hope the anime sticks the landing.

80% of the land is owned by 20% of the population in most modern nations, so most will just be relieved that they not only get to feel 20 years younger and live for way longer they also never have to pay rent or bills anymore and have free access to a cure for nearly every disease
>>
>>288110274
They're also forced into a life of manual labor with few, if any, modern luxuries, and if Ryuusui gets his way the introduction of debt slavery won't be far away
>>
>>288098721
It's all the 'we have this now', 'that took us years/a few seasons to make, now we'll somehow scale it up overnight to a degree unsaid, but it's more and just magically enough to do next thing'. Yea the series was working with superhumans, but apparently everyone is and they can do backbreaking labor at speeds of industrial machines, with their hands. Too many lifetimes got skipped, kaiseki should be dead, medical side of things just sidelined.

They just removed any and all human based conflict for the final arc, despite the first story arc emphasizing on Tsukasa's fear of reviving the wrong people that would eventually revive modern day conflict on the new stone world.
It wasn't until the epilogue story where Senku and friends will finally get push back from other old world humans like when they were against Xeno "wasting time" trying to find and rescue Senku's group who has been lost at sea for weeks or pushing back against Senku's time travel research.
>>
>>288110104
>>288111638
The last arc is obviously very rushed and hand-waved, but it's at least plausible given today's episode with Gen doing his storytime that there is enough of a collective sense of urgency to get people to comply with the plan to build a rocket. I mean if I was in some random American's shoes and the entire world ended, then some Japanese people explain that they rebuilt society from nothing and need my help to prevent this from ever happening again, 10 years of manual labor seems like a reasonable contribution. What's my alternative? Hunting deer in the woods? It is just logical to play along with society to get a guaranteed bed and a meal.

I like how 5 seasons later and them building Famicoms, the medusa is still this scary top level threat device that should be taken seriously. If this was any other shounen show, Senku would have tamed the thing and Why-man would have to come at them with some planet incerating beam instead.

at least if they ever want to revisit it with specials and one-offs, they have a lot of interlude material to work with, like "this is how senku and co. made a pumpjack for oil/wired up the new perseus for electricity/etc."

just a whole bunch of buildan specials, i'd eat that up in a heartbeat

Outro of Tsukasa sitting on a throne, with everyone back to stone age tech worshipping him.

Possibly, though they may struggle to make that level 5 tech digestible to an audience they stopped educating at level 3.
The audience may fail to appreciate or understand the critical engineering challenges for those tasks or have their eyes glaze over when they see mystery components.

All they need is something like an egg timer on your wrist that you have to keep winding to keep it from reaching zero. If it makes it to zero some holes align to let fluid through.

Oh I know, despite everything, I really enjoyed the manga, but the anime has issues of its own...

Mainly pacing, trying to balance the rushed finale that they gave us.

In the manga the whole Suika's lonely adolescence was very painful/annoying... And the anime elevated that with music and voice acting.

Now I just hope they can do the same with the conclusion, coz everything else in the meantime has been... Underwhelming.

part of what makes the science stuff so compelling in dr stone is the character antics alongside it

>they're reviving all these people but as far as we see they do nothing but manual labor while all the sciencing remains with Senku and maybe Xeno
If you revive intelligent old world people, their morals and goals may clash with Senku's team, like we saw in Xeno's case. At this moment they can't take this risk. It's a lot safer to revive working class and at most the technician types like Sai (code monkey) or that watch guy. This way full command and control remains in Senku/Ryusui/Xeno's hands.
>>
>>288110361
