Episode 6
>>288097497Highbrow yuri let's goooo
Nice text.
>>288097841I could use more dayliy passionsop musical in my life.
Cute phone I guess.
yuri is life
This shit is jumping around far too much.
>>288098107git gud
Would you?
>>288098229Why is this random granny the only genuinely happy character in this entire show?
Uuoooh!
オイヴァイ
Another deeply kino episode. This one felt a little bit more challenging with so many characters and time periods but once we got the phonecall between that girl's mom and the chubby teacher everything clicked for me. Ibuki is still such a stellar chacter, along with Kinue and her friend. It was very interesting, watching all these different dual relationships, filled with regret and longing.
What's this show about? I see there's some interesting looking yuribait. Just a bunch of girls doing random shit?
>>288098568>This one felt a little bit more challenging with so many characters and time periodsI wish I could remember to only start drinking after Awajima
Somehow this story doesn't seem to have any at all successful and happy relationship.>>288098404Also this part showed that braids girl didn't actually die, but married some random dude and birthed a daughter just like she was supposed to. What was she in the hospital for, then?
>>288099864Highbrow yuri about the existential trauma of little girls that they keep till they die.
>>288099864It's an anthology centered around a musical/theater girls school called Awajima which is inspired by the real life Takarazuka Revue. Large amount of characters across multiple generations, all intertwined.
>>288100210>characters across multiple generationsAnd some characters are seen at different ages, adding to confusion.
>>288099812are we still treating her as the mc?
>>288100252She's genki so yes
>>288100210>It's an anthology centered around a musical/theater girls school called Awajima which is inspired by the real life Takarazuka Revue. Large amount of characters across multiple generations, all intertwined.Add to that it's typical Class S setting, which means even if girls have some close connection during school time it doesn't matter at all and they always either end miserable with men or happy with men and have kids later.Strange seeing Aoi Hana author shitting on the yuri concept with this work.
>>288100249The main issue is that they all look the same, especially when then grow old. It's really hard to immediately distinguish which obaasan are we looking at when we flash forward or backward 30 years without warning.
>>288100313>typical Class S settingI need some recs, what are the must see/read classics?
>>288100313>Aoi Hana authorAoi Hana had how many happy girl*girl couples? And how many characters who were pretending to be in love with a girl only to reveal they loved a guy all along and/or switched to a guy later? It had, like, one lesbian, Fumi..
>>288100533Love Lab is peak
Honestly it would be better if it concentrated only on the two girls we saw in first episode than jumping on randos every fucking episode I don't give a finger about.
>>288100621>filtered by baby's first anthologyplebe
>>288100252The one with the most connections is the MC, so it's either her or Okabe.
>>288100621>concentratedyeah we know this is too much for you lmao
>>288100677It just means that episodic anthologies without any story behind them should not getting anime ever.Honestly this author really has some serious backing to have her mediocre works animated which are always failures both in sales and popularity.
>>288100829No it means you're a normalfaggot and should fuck off to watch some shonenslop.
It's pretty unrealistic how all of these girls are supposedly heterosexual.
>>288100252What a qt
>>288099812Yeah, I need to study this and then watch the episode again tomorrow. I could follow Kinue's story no problem but everything else was a bit blurry. Still enjoyable regardless though, just because of how well put together this show is, but I'm sure it would feel more rewarding if I could remember exactly what each minor character said or did five episodes ago. This will definitely benefit from being watched all at once when it's finished.
That first half was so damn confusing even for this show.
I’m dumb, but I like the show. If I don’t understand the episode fully, I just wait for the Wikipedia summary and watch it again, having internalized the data. I’ll probably do a full rewatch before the finale.
>>288102864It contains some tragic yuri as side plots.
>>288103367Some marry men and birth children, but whether they fall in love with them, I don't know.
I will definitely be rewatching it at the end of the season.I'm usually a week late, so I was going to comment on the girl from last week, but after reflecting on it, she said everything I wanted to say by the end of the episode.
The Japs REALLY like Romeo and Juliet lol. Basically every single time an anime involves a play it's Romeo and Juliet.
>>288104032Japs have their own Romeo and Juliet so the play resonated with them
>>288097497All of this works for me because it's just little snippet. Fuck my life if I had to follow a girl lusting for senpai in that school for 12 episodes
maybe the real ghosts were the frens we made along the way
>>288101241You just don't get Japanese culture. You're imposing your western ideals
>>288104784That makes it weirder lol you'd think they'd want to perform their own version. I feel like I see more references to Western culture than Japanese culture in anime lol. The plays/musicals mentioned in this show have been Romeo and Juliet, Me and My Girl, and Elisabeth. Don't the Japs have their own stuff??
>>288105028Takarazuka born from women fascinated with romanticism and the western concept of love. The problem was that men were too busy studying or working for the empire and women were too insignificant for men to care beyond sex so they start to create their own romantic fantasies based on the western novels and plays they read.
>>288103694>>288104552>>288104578Somehow she looks cuter as a bifauxnen than she did before. Maybe I'm just biased towards short hair, I don't know.
>>288105352The hair and clothes combo makes a big difference. Her normal hairdo looks plainer.
>>288105028That's Takarazuka's whole deal.
>>288097497This Yuri is beautiful!
>>288107801It's unrequited at best and they'll marry men anyway.
>>288105028Nigga, what we know as anime and manga began its entire life aping Western animation. Animation itself was invented in the west.
>>288097497This episode felt like a send-off for the older generation's storylines and a "coming of age" for the younger's storylines. I wonder if we'll start focusing more on how the current girls relate to and affect each other as a class and not just their individual backgrounds.
I love yuribait
>>288108400She's so cute. She's too good for her snek friend
>>288107843Well, Shoujo Ai has been like this since the beginning.
>>288108595She's starting to heal her friend through smiles and good will. Maybe it's a case of "I can fix her" where the troubled girl will actually get fixed.
>>288099864What... is... Hinagiku... doing... here...?
>>288104032>theatre school>damn why they like shaekspeaer?
This might be my AOTY. I wish it was more popular.
>>288108991Nah, for me it's not even close to Ikoku Nikki.
>>288097497She's cute
>>288108991>I wish it was more popular.no
>>288108991This is way too difficult for the average anime viewer.
>>288108646A reminder that Shoujo Ai isn't a real thing, that's just a nonsense western term.
Well shit, this was the kind of episode that's particularly difficult to comment on. The constant switching of focus between characters and narrators was really dialled up a notch or three this week, and while that did make it harder to follow than usual - especially without the usual eyecatches that show the focus characters and their names for each story - I do think, if you were attentive enough, it tied everything together quite well and even made for a very rewarding experience when you realise who the characters are and how their lives intersected. I also really like how Awajima is depicted as this mixing pot of dreams and regrets. It's not necessarily a unique concept but the execution is 10/10. We see so many different characters whose lives have changed completely because of Awajima, and even with those that left or graduated, it continues to hold such huge significance in their lives. It's amazing.
>>288111363NO, is not.
>>288112059It is, Shoujo Ai as term in Japan is tied to pedophilia not yuri. The closest thing to Shoujo Ai in JP is GL (Girls Love), which have a different meaning to what people use Shoujo Ai in the west.
>>288112238Stop replying to a retarded namefag, holy shit.
>>288098257You just haven't seen her despair yet.
>>288112885Good chart>>288113705Can't believe it's getting fanart, I'm glad
>>288113705Cute.
Don't die yet.
>>288115495Watched the episode yet?
>>288116475Kinu-chan cute
>>288115918Not yet.
It's hard to express any strong opinion when every story is in broad strokes. Well, at least I'm glad we got more of Kinue. >>288112885Thank god they are doing this, with how similar some designs are, sometimes it's kinda hard to tell which timeline a scene is about.
>>288122138I wonder who the other two people on the chart related to her are. I guess her children >>288112885
>>288112238But we are not in Japan, are we?
>>288112238Some yurifags are pushing the term "no romance yuri" to justify eating scraps
>>288126899I'm hoping we'll get to see her shine sometime soon.
>>288127739I do wonder if we'll get an episode we'll actually see them all perform, a little like Kinue this week
>>288097497>>288111202i like this potatoes
>>288128258It would be cool if the final episode was just one big 20 minute performance. And maybe the older generation in the audience could have flashbacks to their own performance when they were the same age, maybe they did the same play?
>>288129355This could be anyone
>>288097497Really fun series. I hope we can adapt the whole Manga
>>288134022>Really fun series. I hope we can adapt the whole MangaThis is my wish as well. Isn't that normally what they try to do when they announce or release an adaptation close to a manga's end date? I'm mostly thinking of Shigatsu and Kuzu no Honkai, but Dungeon Meshi and Seihantei are more recent examples.
>>288134022>>288135426How long is the manga anyway? Anthologies are hard to gauge.
>>288134022Trust the plan.
>>2881390965 volumes
>>288142060Full adaptation is possible then
