>Get reminded of smug mob face robot wife manga
>Wonder why i havent read it in forever
>Look it up "writer put it on indefinite hiatus citing personal life stress"
>This was multiple years ago

So i guess its just dead at this point huh?

I translated it. Yeah, it's probably dead.

>make human dude x robot girl romance manga based around the idea of a guy falling in love with a robot not meant for that kind of interaction
>attract a fanbase of people desperate for that specific type of content
>suddenly reveal the entire thing was basically a rug pull, and the romance aspect, which you clearly don't actually care about, was just a marketing tactic to get your foot in the door so you could achieve your REAL goal of getting your zany sci-fi variety series published
>go on indefinite hiatus
I will neber not be mad about this clusterfuck. I just wanted to see a dude hug a robot.

>AAAHHHH NOOOO WHY ISN'T EVERY CHAPTER ABOUT THE ROBOT GRINDING HER TITANIUM CLIT AGAINST MY PELV- I MEAN THE GUY'S PELVIS!!!!!

Hopefully he gets to wrap it up, at least. Thankfully it was popular enough to get a nendo, which sits in my shelf, waiting to be opened.
>>
To me it felt like the guy was leaning into his own take on I, Robot, as in making it an anthology of robot-human relations and aliens or whatever the fuck, and yeah that's fine, but at the same time you can't drop that this particular Mina is also all but certainly the Ur-Mina and then decide to reduce her focus.
>>
>>288107325
Except that's not really what the focus is. The robots are almost exclusively portrayed as having things pretty well figured out, with teen angst bot being the only real exception that comes to mind. Most of Minas emotional "breakthroughs" are just her outright saying things that were already obvious from her actions. Thete really isn't any emotional growth on the part of the bots in this book. It was pretty clear the author basically considers Mina and Takumas character arcs to be complete, and that the two are just supporting characters for the rest of the cast now.

>why did the very intimate story about a man entering into an akward but hopeful relationship with a fancy rice cooker get coopted into a variety show with an ever expanding scope, that grows increasingly detached from the original premise with each new wacky addition to the cast and setting?

FTFY, faggot

This but unironically. Literally the reason people read the manga in the first place.

i dropped that crappy manga when she wasnt a small cute loli robot anymore
>>
>>288107325
iirc it ended when their 'child' got a new body and played soccer with other kids at school
>>
>>288106069
>So i guess its just dead at this point huh?
It died long before it stopped moving
>>
This manga turned to shit once the solutions to Mina's limitations stopped being creative workarounds, and instead the MC just buying products and upgrades for her
or, even more bullshit, the limitation not actually being a limitation at all because it's revealed in the very next panel that Mina inexplicably has a feature that doesn't make sense for a low-end model like her to have
Basically, the manga turned to shit after the first few chapters
I dropped it around the time the little bird robot or whatever was introduced
>>

The author's other series is way worse.
>>
Just finished S1 as an anime-only. Do I dare hope for a S2 or would it turn to shit?
>>
>>288113126
It turns to absolute shit.
>>
>>288112035
So he can't write and we should avoid all of his works.
>>
>>288113126
Not sure where the show ends but give up hope. It gets less about the main characters. At some point it flips completely away from them.
>>
>>288114087
>Not sure where the show ends
They literally stop it right before the arrival of the terrorists, and the school club, and the aliens - almost like they knew that shit was stupid to include.
>>
>>288114124
>the terrorists
God, I forgot that part. It was so out of nowhere that it's like I filed it away as another manga.
>>
>could've made a billion dollars just making cute robot wife slice of life
>decide to make boring fucking garbage schizoslop instead
Fucking why?????
>>
>>288114500
Because that's what he was making originally before he got picked up by a publisher. All the romance stuff was a bait and switch.

anons in the threads were saying that some earlier weird stuff was also removed from the anime

>I dropped it around the time the little bird robot or whatever was introduced
Although I think the idea of them having a "child" was an interesting route that could have been explored (much) later, everything about Mamoru was fucking awful. You can empathize with the MC overcoming the stigma of wifing a glorified house appliance (because she's a cute, humanoid robot that does wife-like things), but even I think his contrived rationale for considering a weird bird egg thing (which acts like it's cumming itself CONSTANTLY for some fucking reason) his "child" and treating it like a baby is a little unsettling. Things got better when it finally got a human body, but by that point the manga had long since gone off the deep end and the damage was done.
>>
>>288118396
All of that appears to have been intentional. I don't know what happened behind the scenes, but all signs point to egg boy being introduced for the purpose of drawing focus off the romance elements of the story and to "cap off" the mcs character arcs.

The author's currently writing a gacha isekai series that started in Weekly Shonen Sunday a couple weeks ago

I'd put money on the mangaka having a spacky kid
