What the fuck was that even supposed to mean?Who says thing like that?
It baffles me to this day that anyone who has watched the TV series thinks Shinji and Asuka resemble each other in any meaningful way let alone are a good match.
>>288106217huh?
>>288106106She was desperate for contact that evening and teenagers are known for being retarded
>>288106439she's so cunnilingus coded
>>288106217>ResembleHuh?
>>288106664I mean, he did say that
Do anons here NOT want to kiss a girl on the anniversary of their mom's death?
>>288107335Unfortunately I cannot kiss girls as my mother is still alive
>>288107354just tell your mom to stop making out with you
>>288106217Asuka and Shinji have mirrored backstories and the same core hedgehog dilemma issues, they just adopted opposite coping mechanisms for it. Shinji approaches social connection with fear because he doesn't want to get hurt and thus makes himself small and gives himself extremely low self esteem, Asuka approaches social connection with aggression because she thinks that if she punches first that means she won't get hurt herself and wears an unwarranted sense of superiority like a suit of armor. In the final scene of End of Evangelion, they meet in the middle and for a few brief moments their filters are down. Shinji vents the frustration he has been bottling up for the whole show because he never felt he was allowed to do so, and Asuka reaches out to Shinji with tenderness rather than a slap. Then their walls come back up, Shinji starts to cry, and Asuka berates him for his weakness. It an extremely important first step that they were able to be honest with each other, but years of internalized behavior are not undone in a single afternoon. But the fact that they had that moment at all is a sign of positive change for them both.

>>288107854she literally says this unprompted, it frankly took me out of the story for a bit, like the writer had to lazily put in Yui Eva hint.
>>288106106Asuka is mentally a femcel. She would get bullied by other girls.
>>288106217It depends on what you want to focus on. You can take the entirety of Evangelion as a Houellebecqian story about the impossibility of filling the gap between the two genders, similarly to what Victory Gundam does with Uso and Katejina, Victory Gundam is even more violent due to how it's shitting not subtly on third-wave feminism by comparing it to death cults, you have Katejina an already broken individual completely in love with the power Zanscare gives her because of her sex, and you got Chronicle supporting all of that because the deep bond he has with Maria can't let him see beyond the veil. Anno even said Victory Gundam was really important to him, and you can see it. The other Gundam he likes to name-drop is CCA, and even that film has a sort of bleak vision of interpersonal relationships, especially of the sexual kind, but ultimately it's more in line with Eva's answer, which is ambiguous. That also concerns the relationship between Asuka and Shinji, of course, could a future where they walk together really exist? Biblically, Eva was born out of the rib of Adam, the correct translation from hebrew is argued not to be 'rib' but 'the other half'. If you take the Bible even more literally, men and women were created separately, but Adam and Eve who are the progenitors of the species that survived after the flood, were one. Shinji and Asuka are the ones emerging from the one that is the LCL. What to make out of this is entirely subjective, but if you think about it, you can see how what the movie has to say is not so black and white.I feel like the last special kinda cleared things up about what Anno's opinion is currently, they are a good match.
>>288107827Came here to say this + they go out of their way to show Shinji and Asuka have good comparability when they're actually on the same page. Hell, in Asuka's first episode they did better syncing together than they had individually.>>288107898it's not like the show is subtle, they literally talk about the hedgehog's dilemma and then have these two act it out.
