Think I figured some things out about what the original plan for the twins might have been like. Granny was afraid of something happening to Asa as a child and getting the ability before she could be properly brainwashed and possibly breaking the barrier on the village. Thus keeping her locked away in the dark where she is also weakened as the day twin. After sending assassins from outside at Yuru to kill him and gain the seal ability, making it look like the village wasn't involved in it all, they would then talk Asa into allowing herself to be killed in order to protect the village. This way they would have managed to have both twins on their side

I like the show. Its probably the one I’m most invested in this season, though Sangoku is probably better written and produced. I really appreciate that Yuru is a rational, generally straightforward no-bullshit kind of guy. In a sea of Subaru’s fucking around wasting my time I do like that this show has characters who behave in reasonable ways to achieve goals that are not supposed to be clear to the viewer. The latest episode was a bit unsatisfying, and I do hope that the character threads resolve so that the opening village attack is better contextualized. But it is a solid show. Id like the world to be expanded on, the villains to become slightly better defined, and the siblings relationship affirmed. I want to see them be happy.
I hope we get an extended social studies lesson before shit starts happening again

The twins' mother is an outsider who got lost and accidentally stumbled into the village and they tried gaslighting her into believing she got isekai'd into the past to keep her as breeding stock.I think only the higher ups are aware of their enemies, as far as the villager knows they live a safe and peaceful life in the mountains to produce twins with Break and Seal.I don't think it's been outright said why she had to be locked up, but the most likely reason was to protect her from being hurt or kidnapped because her powers are more valued compared to Yuru's (their village is sealed inside a barrier after all, can't let the enemy get their hands on something that could easily break it).The father initially allowed it because it's tradition, but the mother changed his perspective on things with her outside world knowledge, which is why they escaped the village.
