>you can have your big sister>but I'll have KyokoWas the brother cucking REALLY necessary? Why do women like this in their romance writing?
the FeMC randomly getting abusive was an allegory for sex, right? besides that one biting page in the manga they never show them being intimate again
>>288140580Am I allowed to like this show despite not being a girl
>>288140620Its more like her baiting Miyamura into fighting back because she's an M but yeah
>>288140782I love this show/manga to death and I'm a dude so
>>288140782This is my favourite romance manga and I'm a man
>>288140782Happy couple romcoms are greatExcept for when they turn to "well I dunno what to do so now I'll write the side-couples" part
>>288140882Which is either glossed over super briefly in the manga or is a leftover from the WN/LN where the couple we were way more edgy but the adaptation didn't care enough to correct it
>>288140953They still play with it a lot in the manga, but it's definitely behind closed doors for a good bit.
>>288140975After I speedread through the main couple part of the manga I went digging for some answers to some weird things I noticed and found a reddit thread talking about how the source was poorly adapted into a manga which was then poorly adapted into the anime. The thing that really confused me was when Miya proposed to Hori when in my eyes they had been doing nothing but hanging out at her house and playing with the family to cover for the missing parents. I never got any sort of sense of progression in their relationship where marriage was a reasonable discussion much less a surprise proposal.
>>288140882I'm at episode 9 and the bit with Miya hating it and Hori loving it and them doing it IN PUBLIC is so fucking funny man. She shouldn't be forcing this man to have a wife beater reputation. She is too much... never had this joke occur in any other romcom so far in my life.
am I crazy for thinking that Miyamura was so incredibly underdeveloped? it feels like the high school couples got more character exploration than he did. he seems to mostly exist to connect all the school couples rather than be his own character
>>288141018Interesting, I thought the manga was pretty great until the last 40 chapters or so where it just becomes about other people entirely; the proposal felt somewhat earned in my opinion though. It felt more like the result of a relationship that had gone past the honeymoon phase and into partnership that felt natural. I'm sure the LN does it better, but what we got was still okay.
>>288141295I think it feels that way because he's the sole focus of character development for the first few arcs and he doesn't change much after he's accepted and happy with everyone. The early arcs are very much about his isolation and regrets about his coping mechanisms, and Hori seeing past all that was the thing that cracked him open and led to the rest. I do think he stagnated hard after that though.
>>288141346Yea, he gets some initial exploration, but then they just abandon him pretty quickly without really answering the questions that lead to him being the way he is.
>>288141393>quickly without really answering the questions that lead to him being the way he is.???? Did you even watch the show
>>288140580>cucking????????????????
>>288141435There's a lot of stuff about Miya they ignored in favour of showing off all the school couples.
Anyone know where I can read the LN?
Miyamura cucked Kyouko with her dad.
>>288141530Also I wonder what it's like to have an attractive older sister.
>>288141530Maybe dad should've been a dad instead of bosozoku wannabe the Hori mom/dad omake was cute
>>288141575Its funny because in the present they don't make much sense but that flashback was so fucking good that I can't question their feelings now.
Are you enjoying the HoriMiya's artist latest romcom making normalfags on twitter seethe about agegaps?
I liked it, but I don't understand why it's constantly called the best romcom ever made with how much nonsense there is in it.
>>288141575I definitely need to read the manga for this because I can sense there's some good shit in between like hori mom and dad.
>>288141846It's like watchign Hori and Miya but with a different flavour. If you like the early chapters you'll love the omake
>>288141846If you've only watched the anime, you watched the most butchered version of it
>>288141630It's a bit slow so far, I do wonder how the story will lead to MC developing feelings for FeMC
did the manga ever tell us when and where he got his tattoos
>>288142276Nope. Also don't go into why he hates staying at his house compared to always going to Hori's as another example of him being sidelined.
>>288142008I feel it.
>>288142171I do wonder if they'll avoid it entirely until she's graduated.
>>288140953It's a Webcomic
>>288141630>a jk, that's too hot and too autistic to have friends, moves in with a porn drawer >the porn drawing part becomes irrelevant in like chapter 2 and it's mostly about feMC making friends at schoolBoy, this be so different if it was aimed at men.
>>288142382Umi is already developing feelings for him so I doubt the author just ignore the issue for that long, at worst we'll get something like her being the oldest one in her grade so she turns 18 early into her 3rd year and they can get together then
>>288141295Nah, the main couple was like that.
>>288140580Kill all teenage alphas
It always makes me chuckle when characters are forced to confront their own emotions
>>288140580its one of my favourite romcoms, well romance animeand yes, the brother cucking was extremely necessary
>I have to keep a secret that I’m really good at cooking and cleaning from everyoneThis plot point still always felt weird compared to hiding that you have tattoos and wear lots of piercings
>>288143927Wasn't it more that she's kind of a slob at home? And being like a motherly figure that can cook and clean is probably an issue for some groups of girls. And Miyamura's is a similar hiding your real self, where up front he looks like a nerdy guy but actually is kind of a delinquent in terms of appearance at least.
>>288140782cute
>>288143589Miya kinda always struck me as a normal dude with some quirks who got taken advantage by Hori at the start
>>288140782It's fun when it's the boys doing fun things and Kyoko seething, but it has one of the worst casts of side-characters in romance stories.
>>288145648I honestly don't know why people say this. I liked the side characters.
>>288146174That's one of the reasons why I liked it so muchBecause I like ALL of the characters not just the main 2Also Yuki looks like Ritsu from K-On
>>288140782the target audience of this manga was older men in their 20's and 30's and 40's primarily, it just happened to also appeal to women of that same age range. the main character and most of the first person perspective monologue is from the male main character's perspective.
>>288146266Yuki frustrated me a lot with her wishy washy approach to opening up near the later half but she's not too bad.>>288145509Nah, he was bottling up a lot of loneliness and self-loathing and Hori for better or worse wanted to see it all. Turns out, she's exactly the kind of person who can see the good that existed beside that.
decided to do another read through until I get bored, and damnthe yuki subplot be hitting
>>288147354Had to suffer through Hori crush. Immediately another bitch swoops in.
>>288145648>It's fun when it's the boys doing fun things and Kyoko seethingextremely so
I still remember the reaction people had on the chapter they had sexit was like some rule of the rabukome was shattered and nobody could believe what they were seeing
>>288149529the webcomic is way more explicit, dunno why people would freak. Miya is way closer to a shoujo sadist
>>288149529Wish Id been there. Im getting amusement through reaction channels.
>>288149529Rebbitors contend that the sex scene is one of the greatest butcher jobs from the webcomic to manga adaptation and apparently the anime makes it even worse where they fucking miss the entire significance of the rain apparently???
>>288149529>>288149885What chapter does this even happen in? It's been a while since I read the manga and I may have missed it too. Or maybe characters having sex (even implied) in a romance manga doesn't make me bat and eye and so it just didn't stick in my mind.
>>288149914chapter 37
>>288149914Chapter 37 in the manga and chapter 49 in the webcomic.
>>288149928>>288149944Yeah, just reread it. It's pretty blatant. Surprised I didn't really remember it. I have to read the webcomic at some point too.
>>288150002I remember not catching it reading through because I didn't think they'd ever go that far given how coy and innocent the manga is on average. It wasn't until I read some stuff a couple chapters later that made me realize "what a second, these 2 just had sex recently" and made backtrack to find it
>>288140580I remember liking this manga and then not
>>288150124I think the manga suffered a lot from being put in a magazine that was too restrictive for the source material. But also there was just a lot of disjointed story telling and complete lack of HoriMiya the longer it ran.
>>288150094I can't self insert into this.
>>288150094I swear to god, Hori is one of the most underrated yet beautifully designed characters ever. She's so simple but so well executed. >>288150145They suffered from being too good for each other. There isn't much conflict to be had when their romance has blossomed and proven to be something far more serious than a high school romance. It sort of sucks because it feels like we could've gotten a lot more fluff at least, instead of endless side character spam.
I will always appreciate Horimiya because it actually lets characters have proper confessions and proposals.
>>288141018i liked how they were doing "nothing but hanging out at her house"they were basically a married couple at that point, obviously they should get together in some official manner
>>288141630The bigger sin than some age gap is that this new story is boring as fuck
>>288150524>It sort of sucks because it feels like we could've gotten a lot more fluff at leasti like it so much, because Hori and Miya didnt overstay their welcomethe manga as a whole should be shorter if anything, or the characters getting slowly aged up and the story following them through past HS into uni/work lifethen we could get some "drama" related to adjusting into adulthood, instead of getting back to classical misunderstanding or similar shit, that ruins a lot of other romance seriesespecially since the main couple got together that quick and got to the last "base" fastendless fluff would get very repetetive and just boring fasthonestly i usually read doujinshi for my vanilla romance fix, as they ont have unnecessary soap opera tier dramasyou get a quick fix of cute and sex and you dont get tired by it
>>288150124The manga gets really dull after they have sex for the first time because it shifts focus to side characters nobody cares about and most of main couple's interactions are goofy S&M stuff. The webmanga isn't really any better in this regard either. It's generally used as an example of why putting the couple together too early can be a bad thing. The story just meanders if there's no real goal, it's why most romance series have side couples. It's just that the side couples suck in this.Compare it to the recent Polar Opposites where most people prefer the side couples to the main two.
>>288152772>doujinshiIf only HoriMiya had any. For how popular it's gotten, I'm shocked that there's hardly any at all.
>>288140782Don't think so if see the female intention to "normalize" her bf
I want to sex all the girls.
>>288159136For me it's the little sister.
>>288141630I like it but it strongly feels like the artist wanted to do more Horimiya but lacked the writing chops
>>288162002Yea, both of them are basically just the same characters from HoriMiya, but the setting has changed.
>>288159434Her getting unintentionally cucked by her brother was funny
>>288160015>>288161714Best buds right here.Finished the S1 anime just now. Great feel that last episode. Sad missing pieces wont have any big sweeping changes to the dynamics that I now know they end on, but looking forward to more. This show had some real shit in it while remaining light and sincere. I could really watch the cast dick around a lot more, I always enjoyed when different characters intermingled.
>>288163003I love how they ended up together so Tooru didn't have to be depressed all the time
>>288140782Horimiya was pretty big with /a/nons a decade or so ago.
bump
>>288167043It's over.
there is nothing left to discuss
>>288168505I wasted every opportunity I had.
>>288140580Because DRAMA.
