So mamy Isekai always put average Japanese salary man-slave or japanese neet as a protagonist and of course he comes from normal day japan. What about other nations and other type of people from other kind of universe. Like imagine isekai protag is from Poland or any other Slavic country. And imagine protag gets some really unique power (not just being insanepy good at magic) like imagine our slavic protag will either have unique type of "Aquamancy" where instead pf water he summons and controls vodka. Like imagine anime protag literally throwing vodkabolts or even summoning vodka tsunamis on his enemies. Or we can make it better. Get protag from older times instead of current times. Like let's say Pole but from Poland in 80s where everything is scarce and he had to learn art of DIY and improvising from avaliable stuff. This would be a very refreshing experience.
It happens in Dunbine, the first isekai

>>288150537It's honestly astounding how aggressively routine Japan can be sometimes. I know people are always going to copy success but I don't think I've ever seen it so brazen. They don't just try to cash in on a similar premise they do the same thing. It is the same exact show. It's basically just plagiarism at this point. You get the same dumb looking dark haired MC, the same basic character archetype harem, they don't even change up the way the idiot got isekai'd in the first place and all go to the same fucking Dragon Quest based setting with a fucking Demon Lord
>>288151306It is truly bizarre, given how aggressively Japan can also rebell against story telling formulas too
>>288150537He's literally whining that it is full of Japanese people instead of poles. Stop being a dishonest piece of shit.

Isekai is a direct response to Japan's economic conditions in the same way that zombie media is in the west. Just like how zombies started off as a critique of mindless consumerism and turned into power fantasies about tearing down the system and social hierarchies where you could blow off Jay Leno's head for funsies and face no repercussions, Isekai is a response in a similar way where instead of trying to tear down the system they just seek to remove themselves from it. Isekai don't have some polish dude because it wouldn't really make sense in the lineage of the genre as what defines Isekai is a bit more specific than just "dude goes to another world".The reason most Isekai is so similar is because most syosetsu writers are would be game devs who really wanted to make their game idea, but found it too difficult to get into the gaming industry for whatever reason and turned to self publishing their story idea instead. It's why many Isekai focus on specific mechanics and kind of fall into sort of standard post-wizardry fantasy world building because the actual logistics are not what they're interested in fleshing out, it's the introduction of this new element they conjured up while reading other stories in a sort of "What if.." scenario. In a way, that's generally what separates Isekai authors and, by extension, a lot of modern anime from what we saw 40 years ago out of science fiction fans. They were more often more concerned with mechanics and logistics than the story itself sometimes. It's what gives you works like Dougram which can meander a lon for most of its runtime because they were more focused on the intricacies of maneuvering forces around agriculture and the like.

>>288152159High fantasy in western literature was criticized for this very thing for decades up until really very recently. Now we're so relatively far removed from that backlash that you can get a Frieren and people act like it's a breath of fresh air because all they've known is Isekai because they've only really engaged with fantasy in anime and they're too young to remember how saturated the genre was.

Isekai is trash. More news at 11.
