All caught up with these 2, not planning to read the manga. What do I think of them?

>I love the dialogues in both series but even with good dialogues, i can't bring myself to give a shit about the quiet boy x loud gyaru pairing. They're so boring. Everytime either Yamada or Taira isnt on screen, i ask myself where the fuck are they because they did all the heavylifting for this anime. Them, Nabe and Azuma. Basically the side casts.
>My favourite episode was the one where taira was a partimer in a newly open convenience store and all his classmates came to hang out there.
>Meanwhile, for ramparts of ice, Minato absolutely fucking suck. This would be such a good anime if this dude just fuck off from the show after he got told off. Unfortunately, that's not the case. I can already tell the direction where this show is going now that Giraffe is into a different girl. >Damn shame.
>Also, i think the show absolutely abuses the gag sequences. It's not an issue in Polar opposites because it's a light hearted show but there's alot of drama in Rampart of ice and they keep chickening themselves out of serious scenes.
>Miki calls out Minato on his weird behavior - gag scene
>Minato tells Koyun about igarashi - gag scene
>Koyun tells Minato to fuck off - gag scene
>ultimately, i enjoyed ramparts of ice alot more because i prefer to have some drama in my slice of life anime and the main trio of koyun / miki / yota have a much stronger chemistry than the main pair in polar opposites.
>i look up archives of the episode threads and mangafags seems to hint that rampart of ice have horrifying side cast so i shudder to witness their appearance.
>>
koyun and the golbat should become a yuri couple

>Nabe
What "heavylifting" did she do? She is barely a character, just a jumping retard.

Based. I also prefer ramparts of ice.

I think since you enjoy Ramparts more you will really like the direction the show goes. Minato is definitely the most liked/second most liked character in the series. What makes him less obnoxious is that as we get more of his inner thoughts we learn he's pretty introspective like Taira and works on his own issues to become a better person pretty actively.

What the anime does very well is make the viewers think the show is more dramatic than it really is.. like how the episodes get cut off to make you believe it's a cliffhanger. The gag scenes are very fitting of their overall friendship imo, the reason why these characters grow so much and work so well is because they are just goofy and comfortable around each other and there's never really a "oh this is a big deal" sort of tension between them. It's a drama, but it's still soft and endearing like Polar Opposites.

Tani and Suzuki are really cute but yeah after the series continues they get a little more boring.. not the case at all with Koyun and Minato. They get spicy and the new-romance nervousness carries well.

I'm just listing characters i thinks were more entertaining than the main characters. Taira and Yamada is the one that i look forward to every single episode.

Episode 2 was the best and it wasn't really even close.

It's alright. Dont care much about tani except for the fact that he seems to think that him and taira are best friends which makes me giggle.

Everything lacking in Tani is made up by Suzuki being an absolute angel.

Should I read the manga? I really like the anime and I just desperately want more Tairazuma and Suzuki being a complete and utter lovestruck gremlin. Does the manga contain more of the sauce?

>Anons see this and say "wife".

Still cuter than Koyun
>>
>>288150820
I hope the author's next manga leans more towards joseki than polar opposites.
>>
I'm reading the manga now and i dont know if i prefer tairazuma staying friends or hooking up. They look like theyre building up to being very close friends that i think shipping them feels weird. I dont know how they are gonna develop them into a ship.
>>
>>288150820

Everyone following the manga is either in it for taira's ship or yamada's ship. Just look at the reply count for every one of their ch.

I think that actually detracts from it. The manga makes a better job at not taking itself more seriously than it needs to.

Im reading the manga right now. Its pretty lame that the author skips around their year 3. It wasnt axed wasnt it?
>>
>>288157133
Like holy cow, almost every 3rd year ch has been a taira chapter.
>>
>>288157614
Author knew what the fans wanted.
>>
>>288154899
Taira deserves a better wife. They're a fine friend pairing though.
>>
How was the manga doing? As much as i like the post ch 50 chapters, i can't deny the pacing has been balls to the walls. I wish it was paced the same ways their 2nd year. Im almost at the end now.

Felt like the manga got semi axed.
>>
Just read the final ch. Low key feels like an axed ending. Thats kinda lame considering ch 64 was really good.
>>
>>288154899
>i dont know if i prefer tairazuma staying friends or hooking up

Funny that this is exactly what the last couple of chapters were about.
Personally I think they are a really cute couple and I don't know why you need to choose either friendship or romance, your girlfriend can be your friend as well
>>
>>288159209
>I don't know why you need to choose either friendship or romance, your girlfriend can be your friend as well
Just speaking from a story perspective, sometimes characters with good friendship vibes can feel really forced when the authors tries to pair them up and make the character act or do OOC stuff. I don't mind it either way. But
I just think their relationship as bestfriends look more sincere and meaningful than if they were paired together. That's my take on it.

IIRC it was selling around 50k per volume, so pretty good for a niche series. Most of the Jump roster can only dream about those numbers.
Around chapter 54 there was a sudden drop in quality of both writing and art, which suggests that something must have happened that led to this very premature ending. I said it before and I still keep thinking that the author got knocked up...
>>
>>288159483
>it was selling around 50k per volume,
Man, seems like the author just wanted end it himself. It feels so rushed.
I wish i could say the anime would improve on it but this would take alot of anime originals scenes to expand on.
>>
>>288159628
>I wish i could say the anime would improve on it
they already adapted some LN original scenes in the first season so there is a chance
>>
I love Taira and Mintao.
>cynical, nihilistic and with a wicked sense of humor
They are literally me.
>>
>>288159943
They are literally not the same character.
>>
>>288160760
yeah, Minato is a fag who acts like a girl, gushes over cute dogs and has Azuma's body count
Taira on the other hand is a pretty cool guy.
>>
>>288150820
Who are you quoting?
>>
Koyun is like a deadfish in bed
Suzuki fucks like a wild beast
>>
>>288159483
I really like how everyone got pair up in year 3
>azuma and satou
>nishi and yamada's friends
>honda and taira
>suzuki and azuma's friend
It's a shame that they got no more than one or 2 dialogues.
>>
I've heard Ramparts of Ice is more drama focused? Is it worth picking up if I prefer lighter romance anime?

Koyun is beautiful that is why so many male characters fall for her despite her trying to hide/ignore them, it's the artist's style that seems ugly
>>288161601
Tani/Koyun are def the bottoms but I don't think Koyun is a deadfish considering she was more aggressive about sleeping with Minato right away

How is Minato a fag that acts like a girl? Genuinely curious what you mean because not sure if you mean the flirty extroverted way he acts or his actual sensitive takes.
>>
>>288164426
He has female mannerism
When you look at how he acts it is clear that the author is a woman.
In Seihantai this was much less obvious, maybe because of a good editor or something.
>>
>>288163978
Did you watch Polar Opposites and liked it? Ramparts is more drama focused in the sense that characters take longer to realize their own feelings and there are potential rivals. I heard some people thought the manga focused a lot on their "inner thoughts and trauma flashbacks" but the anime seems not to spend too much time on those so I'd say it's worth picking up.
>>
>>288164426
He lets the emotions of other people influence his actions and for proud autists that self insert into Ayanokoji that's a female trait

>honda and taira
Funny that Honda was more interesting with Taira than with Nishi
I wouldn't even mind some love triangle between them and Azuma.
Satou being forced to listen to Azuma's complaints was also fun. It is really a shame that she never learned that those were about Taira.
>>
>>288165434
Polar Opposites was great apart from that one episode.
>>
the major difference is that polar opposites is clearly more male audience targeted but shoujo-coded, similar to say horimiya, while ramparts of ice is much more female audience targeted.
