Like in the fight with Misaka 5.3, I think how intimidating and terrifying an opponent she was a bigger part of him getting injured than the actual firepower of her attacks. I think if he fought a Lvl 0 and realized he was in the wrong and acting gutless, he would probably get his ass kicked. It's that sort of thing. So because his powers are so tied to his emotions and perhaps the emotions of his opponents, he is probably able to sense when there is something wrong with them and see it as an unnatural distortion. At least that is my theory.

They saw Misaki's meteoric popularity, realized Junko was a B-lister and decided to flip the main and supporting character. If Astral Buddy was doing well under the Junko branding, Mental Out would not need to exist.

If anything, the only confusing thing is why they decided to make a manga starring Junko to begin with. I guess they decided a haughty lazy Mentalist wouldn't make a good main character over a friendship loving brawler and since they are always together, they are basically a twofer. Astral Buddy is basically a "what if" they made a Kuroko manga featuring Railgun instead of Railgun.

Thats weird." And it ended up being very well liked. Where are Accel was the opposite, lots of hype and then it just died
I dont really know where they would go with AB after this arc though. Like it feels like it just needs a few more chapters and it would have been fine. Like ghost chan was shown as the Astral Buddy and all that, what would even be left?
