Theres a lot of nuance i never picked up as a kid.

For instance goku is alot more intelligent than I ever realized. Hes kind of has a persona of being a big dumb goof who just does good because bad is bad but its really not that black and white.

The guy is a paragon of wisdom and virtue. An insanely good father a realist and a strategist. He almost comes off as a genius. Not the book smart kind but an emotional genius. Hes a much better character then I ever realized. Truly the gold standard of a shonen protagonist.

And then Super happened and turned him into a bumbling retard.

Super was a mistake

You'd pick up on more if you read it. Goku is genuinely one of the greatest.

This is why I hate modern series where the "genius" character has to constantly be jerked off by everyone in the manga to remind you that "no he really is 300 IQ I swear!" Modern mangaka don't know how to let the character's actions speak for themselves. It's not even exclusive to battle shonen.

Goku used to be an adult
