How come no author in Japan has the balls to canonize a same-sex relationship, even if it’s really obvious and will be accepted?

Dumb fujo.
>>
>>288178731
It's becoming more common.

What? There are thousands of series where that happens.

The fuck you mean? Japan has more BL than any other place on earth, and they regularly pander to fujos in non-BL series too.
>>

>girls
Doesn’t count. That’s the cowardly route of lgbt representation
>>
>>288179216
No I'm sure china has more, just in novel form

Don't come back here to whine when the smug girl wins

If you want LGBT representation try Shoujo from the 60s to 80s. Contrary to what /pol/ might tell you Japan used to be a lot gayer than it is now.

What's the one where the MC girl is always writing in her Diary "dear brother..." to you college crush but then she gets involved in crazy yuri power dynamics between a hot blonde tomboy bishoujo drug addict and an insane psycopath rich bitch who ran the girls' high society club?
wait I think I answered myself
>>
>>288179055
Just how new are you? Go read Blue Fag
>>
>>288178731
Wait, they went for the gay-route?
>>
>>288178731
Why would he? Keep giving him your money and you'll get your yaoi bait, why would he care any more about fujos?
>>
>>288180419
Op is just wishing they would
>>
I wish there were more gay characters but that is not the central plot of the anime.

If you're talking about shonen manga, there's no benefit. Magazines won't take a risk on a cultural issue that's still fluid but authors are smart enough and culturally enmeshed with otaku/fandom culture that they know readers will read into implicit signals anyway. Hence why you get ambiguous affection between, for example in JJK, Geto and Gojo. (Gege reads LGBT manga, so he knows what narrative signals to highlight intentionally) and JJK is quietly a political manga, so he's obviously thought about subtext to some degree.

But yeah, ambiguity works best for everyone rn. Editors get to claim it'it's friendship when your Tucker Carlson types get antsy and fans who want it as romance can still read what they want.

If I'm honest, i'd imagine we'll get a gay side character in a mainstream manga at some point (ik class s manga were big in the 70s), Japan is still changing and today's writers, zoomers as a whole are more online. It's less about propaganda (as much as some people will bitch) and more the fact that a "democratised" playing field removes stigma around certain issues. It'll happen much slower.slower than the west, but it'll happen eventually

There was some indie manga artist who said publishers wouldn't serialize a BL battle manga because it splits up the audiences. It seems kind of silly considering how popular battle shonen manga are with fujos, if anyone actually manages to get a BL battle manga published they will probably end up being a niche success like nucarnival was with gachashit fujos
>>
>>288178731
they are called FUJOshi for a reason you baka ass motherfucker
>>
>>288181667
There's been a few discussions like that. Editors will shut you down if you submit a BL manuscript that has elements of other genres or a wider narrative because the "one-two volume" model is so successful for BL that it's a gamble to publish anything else.

it happens sometimes with heterosexual characters too. Like how Nintendo said that Mario and Peach are just "good friends" despite kissing multiple times. Japs are just afraid of commitment I guess.

Better question: How come no authors in Japan have the balls to canonize an age-gap relationship?

Nu carnival was a financial failure though, it got completely blown the fuck out by LADs despite LADs being just as much of a porn game and focusing solely on women.
The truth is the fujo fanbase is incredibly small and in recent years yumejoshis have shown they're a more palatable market because the gay shit doesn't nuke any male audience.

Fujos are as everyone was saying back when Free! first dropped, burst buyers, not consistent income. This lines up with the fact that fujos would rather make a million fan contents than participate in official materials.

Aldnoah.Zero
Both protagonists get cucked so in the end they only have each other
