what if you went here?

>what if you went here?
I would be a normal Japanese citizen making me way through the school system.

what is this feeling I get when I see this? I don't even know how to describe it. It's not really nostalgia and not really melancholy.

>Feeling nostalgic for a time, place, or experience you've never lived through is a phenomenon called anemoia.
>"Mono no aware" is a Japanese idiom for the aesthetic appreciation of impermanence or transience of things, and both a transient gentle sadness (or wistfulness) at their passing as well as a longer, deeper gentle sadness about this state being the reality of life.
This might not be what you were going for, but I think this is how I feel about it.

"I wish I went to Toyosato Elementary instead"
>>
Is it really a highschool or somethiung else

Utterly soulless
>>

That's what makes it authentic.

Seems like an actual school. The banner on the left is saying something about the boys' volleyball club.

It was a real school but it closed for unrelated reasons shortly after the show. There were/are plans to demolish it since "being an otaku pilgrimmage" isn't a good enough reason to keep an empty government building around.

The K-On school wasn't demolished and became a place for public events mostly due to K-On's popularity though
>>

But K-ON's schools have fucking cute hare and turtle at the ends of the stair handrails plus it looks comfy inside with all the wood and have a decent exterior, also it was actually an elementary school so it makes the truly cultured man imagine harder. Very worth keeping.
That sterile concrete jungle on the OP looks plainly depressing and no, it's not just the shitty weather at the time that photo was taken.

What if you were there?

I went there! I spent all day walking around town, hunting down locations.
>>288188623
This is just how I felt when I was there. Happy to be there, but overcome with a recognition that so much time has passed since 2006. I never found aliens, time-travellers, and espers. I felt like I hadn't lived up to the themes of the series, that I should have been more like Haruhi.

were you allowed to tour the whole building without any issue? or were the forbidden areas?
>>
>>288192366
Same, although felt like a creep walking around taking pictures of a school so I didn't take very many
>>
It would be extremely painful
>>
>>288192514
It's still a school?

Same actually, I felt self-conscious taking pictures of a school, so I didn't go inside. All my other pics were from elsewhere in town
