I felt very close to it, not because I connected with it deeply, but because Satou is well-written and you understand his situation very easily. The comedy is very good too. His friend needs a good psychologist though

He really is well written. to me he's someone that considers himself off the deep end, but in a more strict appraisal is rather tame for a hikikomori
his friend does fit the role better for someone more lost. remember the episode where he says he has a gf to everyone and he's just delusion maxxing it and the girl and him are only friends?
They really focus on satou's pov of social anxiety, but if you read between lines, his friend is as asocial as he is, pretyy much, people not wanting to invite him to mixers, and everyone in his class talking about gamedevving while he sits alone
when I think about it, it makes sense, satou probably is made so more people and specially people at risk of becoming hikis can relate more, and his friend is more of the cautionary tale of 'this is how you can end up, be careful'

Both openings are written and performed by the same group, Round Table (featuring Nino). They also did some songs for Aria The Animation and the Diebuster opening. And the composer wrote the Mysterious Girlfriend X opening and ending songs, even though the performer was different for those.

Oh yeah, that episode, yeah its just a hurricane of MC suffering that it becomes just comical to watch. The LN are supposed to also be part comedy so i think that was the intention.

Honestly great episode of one of my favorite shows, though it has been a while and my memories of it are quite fuzzy, hope you enjoy the rest OP.
