We are getting a new season
You will all regret it when this comes out
>>288213653if I was there when this bitch was hitting mikuru, I would have slammed her head to the ground and stomped it until it was mush. BITCH
We are getting a new Toukai Line train with Haruhi characters painted on it
>>288213653Leaked image from the new season.
>>288213653Sure
>>288213653we're notFUCK YOU don't play with me like this
>>288213653Can we all finally admit after 20+ years that the plot was dumb as fuck and the IP became successful only because KyoAni’s production quality was miles ahead of everyone else at the time?
>>288213738Why didn’t Noizi include Yasumi?
>>288213787For a LN, it was pretty good actually. Some plot lines in the first two seasons are pretty good, it had some touching moments, and arguably only the weakest parts made it into the anime.Disappearance is fucking kino, so is Snowy Mountain Syndrome.
>>288213653We have a million mediocre LNs, why bother with just an old one.
>>288213653Will it feature the Shrike & Colonel Kassad?
>>288213653They said they were doing a 20 years anniversary rebroadcast You aren't getting shit
>>288213653Why does it look like she's wearing pants in the silhouette? I wouldn't be upset if anyone putting Haruhi in pants got Aoba'd. Why is everything in 2026 ugly and gay?
Pachinko on trains
How much source material is even available to adapt? I thought this has been on hiatus for ages as well.
>>288213991a good amount.but yeah, the author is likely never going to finish this
>>288213991Two seasons of anime and a movie covered up to the fourth volume of the LN and a couple of other short storiesThere are 13 volumes
>>288213991We got a new novel in 2020 and another one in 2024.
>a finger on the monkey's paw curls

>>288213945Because she's probably wearing a train conductor uniform. Collabs with JR in which characters wear this kind of uniform are quite common.
>>288213787In many ways the Seinfeld of anime, Haruhi was good due to a confluence of dialogue, voice performance and music, all packaged in a sitcom format.
>>288213653
Nobody cares about this series any more.
not falling for it again

>>288213653Holy shit! I can't wait for Neverending Nine!
>>288216437I'm holding out for Tedious Ten
1) We are getting multiple seasons.2)Season 2 is entirely going to consist of endless 8.
>>288213653fell for it again award. every couple of years they just troll istg we are never getting another season and if we do, it will be like that yuki spinoff trash. did anyone even watch that?
>>288213787It's a fun slice of life with a unique rebellion vibe against the soullessness that arrived afterwards, it's more relevant than ever. Also predicted women being crazy. Kyon needs to get that bitch under control.
>>288214086Pregnant Haruhi, lactating breasts.
Fuck yeah I can't wait for disappointment
>>288213787I thought it was a nice concept, especially after an endless deluge of dull slice of life anime>Hey, your friend is actually a sleeping god>We're a time traveler, a psychic and an alien and we'll help you distract her so she never awakensIt's just the execution was a bit shit.
>>288213691I'm probably not even gonna watch itUurusei Yatsura, Ranma, and Haruhi were my favorite anime in late 00s early 10s and I didn't watch the remakes for the former two, so...
>>288214775nobody think it was fun, but it was art for sure
>>288215834>shitkaku
So, the explanation I got for why a human being would jeopardize the entirety of existence on the whims of a capricious entity is that this ultimately is a very romantic story and it is fiction, so it is okay. Is that pretty much it? It seems insane to me, but I get it is more about being compelling than being logical. Like, Disappearance showed that Kyon actively wants to be stuck babysitting an apocalypse waiting to happen.
>Long awaited sequel to some popular shit from the 00sI'm sure this one will be good amirite
>>288218447anon, are you like dumb by any chance?
>>288218855Yes. I also haven't watched or read this. I'm just curious based on what I heard about it.
Should have just completely ignored the LNs and gone their own way
>>288218447It's about self actualization, faith and creativity rather than a perfectly "logical" situation about risk assessment.
>>288218998They have enough LNs for two seasons and a movie. The issue is more about Kadokawa greenlighting an anime than with the existing content which is pretty much everything you could hope for.
>>288219137But I don't care for the LNs
It's trains. See you next time.
>>288219088I would love to hear you describe what this entails. Self-actualization and creativity as in, what Haruhi represents? Faith as in, trust in a partner? Or does Kyon self-actualize and act creatively as part of his role? I'm just curious. Thanks for the answer.
>>288213653Season 3 is never happening. Just give up already, fags.
>>288219226you're fucking retarded, stop posting
>collab with trainsWow...
>>288219550I don't think I will? There wasn't an IQ test in the captcha.
>>288219226So basically Kyon used to be that guy who wanted more from life but came to terms with it, as shown in his intro monologue https://youtu.be/YOEUdsOheAgHaruhi vehemently refuses that since she realized that she's just another cog in the machine, one person in a crowd you can't even really picture in your head https://youtu.be/XE-qmHdZIKUNow a lesser story would've made Haruhi an unambiguous force of good, but she's not. In fact, she pretty much fucked her life for 3 years by trying so hard to break out of the mold and become this unique person. She has that downward spiral. At one point in the story, she's able to rewrite the world into something truly crazy but comes to her senses and doesn't, because that's not what the real answer to this gray world where everything's been solved should be. That's not her real path to self actualization. As time passes and Haruhi/Kyon learn from each other, the real answer comes in the form of a process rather than a result, a reckless embrace of new things you've never tried with your people. It's not unique in principle, but it's your adventure. The universe is "created" with you, in that sense, and in Haruhi being a god that's just an allegory for this. That's how Haruhi ends up finding meaning. And so it's stated pretty clearly she doesn't actually want to find magic, she wants to seek it.This is why Kyon wants the Haruhi from his world: she embodies that spark of life. He could settle for the regular world but he deeply value and trusts Haruhi and what she represents.
>>288213653Get ready for a new Haruhi pachinko!
>>288213857Anon! Take your daughter, your only daughteru, whom you love, and go to the world called Hyperion and offer her there as a burnt offering at one of the places of which I shall tell you.
>>288218545>I'm sure this one will be good amiriteBleach's new anime is good
>>288219656Hm. I guess I can see how this would resonate with people. Maybe I'm just too cynical, so the fan musings on the topic sounded just like protagonist syndrome and not the more nuanced take the series actually provides. Thanks for the insight.
>>288218892From a literalist perspective: Haruhi is going to jeopardize reality whether she wants to or not, but it'll be especially dangerous if she finds out she's a god or if she falls into a really bad mood. The goal is to both keep her in good spirits by entertaining her wishes, and keep her unaware of her powers. The end goal, as far as some characters hope, is to make Haruhi a healthier, happier person who is satisfied with the mundane world and won't feel a desire to change it.
>>288219846Part of it is subtext, part of it is explicit, but either way this idea of "constructive chaos" that Haruhi embodies is a pretty big point in the series. But yeah it still depends on the watcher and what they'll take away from it I guess.
It's mobile game shit. It's over.
>>288220000Also as >>288219890 says, Haruhi really doesn't use her powers much after the first season. Because casting magic spells isn't really a satisfying answer to a perceived lack of purpose.
Frankly, let's end this. I loved Haruhi but it's fucking meaningless to have more seasons at this point.
>>288219890>>288220054I guess I don't really understand how her powers operate because I would have assumed that not being aware of them is MORE likely to result in disastrous consequences. Like, could she not halt the Earth's motion by thinking stop too hard or something? Whenever people describe just how powerful she is (things like time loops and destroying and rebuilding the world), it makes it sound like she could easily accidentally break everyone's cell walls in her sleep. >>288220000Yeah, I figured in a LN series, this sort of thing wouldn't be spouted as a monologue.
>>288220169The way it's described is that Haruhi's powers only activate if she really, truly wishes for something, or believes something to be the case. However, Haruhi is ultimately a rational person, so normally even if she wants something to be the case, if she truly believes it to be impossible, then it stays impossible. For the magical to happen, Haruhi's desire or belief needs to overcome her rationality. This becomes harder for her as the series goes on because she becomes more satisfied and faithful in the mundane world. The more she's convinced of the supernatural, the more she compels it to happen, so if she found out she's a god, anything is on the table. When Haruhi wanted nothing more than for summer vacation to never end, she created a time loop, but it ended as soon as Haruhi got closure and was physically reminded of the class work that was due (she had to acknowledge summer vacation was ending). When Haruhi thought laser eyes would be cool for a movie she was making, her friend gained laser eyes, but they vanished as soon as Haruhi had to admit the film was a work of fiction. Etc.
>>288220425Ah, I see. So, less direct omnipotence at any scale and more like psychological resonance with the world around you. I mean, that still gets me thinking of what happens if she gets a railroad spike in her brain or something, but I understand this isn't that kind of story.
>>288220169>I guess I don't really understand how her powers operate because I would have assumed that not being aware of them is MORE likely to result in disastrous consequences. Like, could she not halt the Earth's motion by thinking stop too hard or something? Whenever people describe just how powerful she is (things like time loops and destroying and rebuilding the world), it makes it sound like she could easily accidentally break everyone's cell walls in her sleep. She could do that, yes. And occasionally does accidentally cause such mayhem. But right now the biggest impediment to Haruhi overwriting the world with bullshit is that her concept of what reality 'really is' is still informed by the mundane. Lets break it down into a more specific example: aliens. Haruhi believes that aliens are real, she WANTS them to be real. She thus makes aliens real. She has that power, and has already used it. But Haruhi, despite her interest in aliens, is still kept somewhat in check by her reason. She has, to her knowledge at least, never met an alien. She knows them from TV and movies and anime, but not real life to her. She goes looking for aliens and writes them messages, but despite her chunni action she never actually BELIEVES that she will find an alien. She doesn't expect her attempts to succeed. This means that despite having willed aliens into existence, their presence to her remains hidden. Now, what do you think would happen if Yuki revealed that she was an Alien to Haruhi, or that Haruhi unambiguously saw a flying saucer or something? Aliens now change in Haruhi's mind from something that probably isn't real, to something that definitely is. That 'reason' that keeps her in check gets a hole blown through it, and now Haruhi expects to meet aliens if she looks for them hard enough. The world is going to become FULL of aliens, new ones that didn't exist before, specifically because the idea that she can meet aliens is 'real' to her now.
>>288213653But do we want one?
>>288220688>And occasionally does accidentally cause such mayhem.I feel like the mayhem I described would result in there being no story to tell after. Since everything would be dead. But your explanation aligns with what the other poster said and makes sense.
>>288220711Thats the real question, isn't it? Of course we want more of good thing we enjoyed, but at this point its going to be so difficult to catch that lightning in a bottle again that it can't help but be disappointing. Also, what would a third season even end on thats a better high note than Disappearance was?
>>288220780I mean, was the LN that followed any good?
>>288220767>I feel like the mayhem I described would result in there being no story to tell after.I don't think Haruhi's world-rewrite could ever result in a world with no people in it. Its strong anthropic principle based: the world exists because there are people (or in this case, one specific person) to observe it. She could absolutely change the laws of physics such that the current reality doesn't function anymore, but that new set of rules would still *look* almost exactly the same as it does now, it would just be running on a different operating system. Like, if Haruhi believed pokemon into existence that had the ability to 'evolve' like they do in their own setting, the rules of evolution have been changed to make that possible. But that doesn't go back and change the evolutionary tree thats resulted in modern humans, because Haruhi still expects there to BE humans and the underlying rules of the universe always lose when in conflict with what Haruhi expects to be observably true.
It's fucking nothing
>>288220959>/a/ fell for it againIt's all so tiresome.
>>288220959Serious question:What railways companies in Japan earn from doing stuff like this?Do japanese people really choose to board a train just because it has their favorite characters on it instead of actually have to go somewhere at a certain hour?
>>288220925Right, so no flinging everyone out into space by stopping the planet and no turning everyone into a chemical slurry. I think I got the jist of it. Thanks for all the info.
>>288220868Snowy Mountain Syndrome would hit pretty similar levels of quality>>288220780S3 wouldn't, although it'd end on a pretty high note with Intrigues ending probably. Just not "big end of big core arc after lots of buildup" levels of climax. It would be more like S1 but more polished writing wise. Movie/S4 would hit that same level with Surprise though.
>>288220959>new art by Noizi>new story by Tanigawa>new voice drama>fucking nothing
>>288219890>but it'll be especially dangerous if she finds out she's a god is this actually true thoCan she use them consciously? Would she use them consciously for evil? She already uses it unconsciously so it wouldn't make a difference thereIs it even possibleKyon told her directly and she conveniently didn't believe himAnd It's been a while since I read but I remember at the end of snowy mountain syndrome mikuru all but revealed what went on and she still didn't really catch on then either.
>>288213787it became successful because Yamakan is /our/ fvarking hero
>>288223264The issue is that letting her find out is an inherent gamble with too many variables to treat as a safe option. Haruhi's reality warping is directly correlated to what she thinks can or should happen, so if she truly understood that she's a god, there's no telling what could happen. Keeping her in the dark at least mitigates the worst of it and allows the issues to be more manageable, or at least predictable.>Kyon told her directly and she conveniently didn't believe himHaruhi sees Kyon as an intelligent, rational person who doesn't believe in the supernatural. Him telling her that just comes off as fucking with her, and she sees her other friends in more or less the same way. Her powers are always in a delicate balance between her rationality and her desires, and she sees her friends as inherently rational. But Kyon does have an emergency button he can press to make her truly believe whatever he says next, and he reveals it at the end of Disappearance: "I am John Smith".
>>288220959NOOOOOOO WHERE'S MY FUCKING PACHINKO COLLAB???
For 25+ chapters we watched the MC’s feelings for Akari develop so damn naturally. We got amazing arcs like the Valentine’s one and the sports festival arc too. Then there was that explosive confession during the beauty contest and that’s only a fraction of the chemistry those two had together. And then what? A flashback happens and suddenly some other girl steals the MC’s heart.Like… what was even the point of building their relationship up in such a romantic and believable way if the story was just gonna screw it over in the end?At that point just give all that screentime to Runako instead. At least try to make her feel like an actual living romantic interest. This modern trend of “surprise winning heroines” is so painfully outdated. Authors literally have to ignore the development of their own story just to force these twists in.

>>288213653Haruhi is a unlikable slut and Kyob a retarded apathetic douchebag, why would I watch this.

>>288221036>Do japanese people really choose to board a train just because it has their favorite characters on it instead of actually have to go somewhere at a certain hour?If they do it the answer is probably yes. Long ago did I stop questioning anything off related to Japan.
>>288221036Lately, Japanese people have been refusing to take the train for trips of several kilometers, preferring to walk instead. As a result, train companies are trying to attract passengers by featuring popular anime characters, since that’s the only way to get Japanese people to take the train instead of walking several kilometers.

You realize this is just a Japan Rail collaboration, right? >>288213787Ehh Haruhi at least Haruhi s1 had pretty average production quality. Back then kyoani wasn't really known for high quality they only started dropping higher than average anime since 2009 or so. Haruhi was unique at the time and I thought it was fun.
>>288233734I like Haruhi, because S1 was fun at the time.It may look like slop to younger people these days (and I don't intend to blame you for thinking so), but at the time it was a quantum leap.
