If you are not an elite athlete it wont last because when the height growth stops, shoulder and pelvic width growth continues and your eating habits stay at what you were when your were growing and hungry all the time. But in girls those extra calories are used to grow the breasts and hips and get the body fat up to where its needed to be to trigger menstruation.
