Sayaka Ohara reading the mother's letter to Asa twice in the episode 7, first in a tender tone and then choking with desperation, has so far been the best voice acting of this year. The entire show is honestly the best directorial debut I can remember.
Oh the bros just reached episode 7
>>288237745What did the aunt mean by one person cannot change the life of another?
>>288238590She meant that you can influence or affect another person but you cannot resculpt that person completely to your liking.
>>288238590You can hope to change someone or influence them one way or another, but it probably won't happen or stick past a certain point.Like that drug addict cousin you gave who everyone tries to fix but they relapse in a few weeks every time.
>>288237745It is definitely my favorite show of the year, so far.Extremely well made and acted.
>Director left out the part where the carpet muncher comes out of the cloest to Asa, making it look like they're still in conflictbased!
>>288238902That was a real flaw. I guess they were trying to avoid the controversy about 'coming out' given modern Japanese political trends. But it is a real shame such a good scene was cut.
>>288237745Best Girl
>>288238902isn't Asa gay for the patriarchy doesn't want me to become a doctor girl anyhow?
>>288239525More like she wants to be like her and wants her to be her best self. Not romantic.
>>288238806Same here, and it's been a stacked year so far too, instantly went into my top 10 as wellI had no expectations going in but got one shotted in the heart
>>288239279Jokes aside, I think there just wasn't enough time for it. It didn't shy away from it in the first place.
>>288240810I really wish someone would have had the guts to commit to a full adaptation. The manga's final volume or two are genuinely incredible. I can only pray that some OVA are put together at some later date, if the stars align or something.
>>288240810I actually wish they shied away from it, even though all the parts ware great by the end I felt that the all the side stories took time away from the story of Asa and her aunt which is the core of the series.

A person that truly felt human. Not necessarily likeable or someone you'd want to be friends with, but a person you really felt like you got an understanding of and who felt real.
