It would have been interesting from Denji's perspective because then the rest of the world would be "starving" in a similar way that he was in the beginning of Part 1 and that would have been an interesting angle to explore. Part 3 could have also feature the "rescue Power" arc that everyone was waiting for, where Denji and friends go to hell to find the blood devil. We would actuallly receive an explanation into what kind of devil pochita actually was, and his ability to eat devils and erase them would be exclusive to him and not given to a random bug devil essentially.And in a part 4 they finally "deal" with the death devil in a way that doesn't inadvertantly cause the apocalypse anyway like removing the idea of death. Part 4 might have featured a timeskip where you see Nayuta grow up and look like makima again, and possibly regain her memories somehow but she is still changed after her experiences as nayuta and helps Denji and friends deal with the death devil in a way that doesn't destroy the world anyway. Or maybe, rather than a timeskip, somehow nayuta/makima regains her memories in part 3 during "rescue power" hell arc. In this way, she would become the piccolo/vegeta of the series as a villian turned protaganist. Then by "dealing" with all four horseman of the apocalypse, then humanity is safe. So each part of the series would have been focused on "dealing" with one horseman. I think that would have been a more satisfying ending.

Things get carried over from the previous timeline, but yeah, these are essentially new people. The experiences, good and bad, that built the characters up never happened and never will happen. Denji and cast are essentially dead, erased from existence.A lot of defenders will claim that Denji is better off never having any of that trauma happen to him. Which of course I would prefer he never dealt with it either. But erasing what happened is wrong. Small Fate Stay Night spoiler, but one of the climaxes resolves when the Main Character decides he doesnt want to change the past. Even if it was horrible and changing the past could void tragedies, in doing so he would erase the hardships others overcame. People who dealt with grief and changed for it, their experiences mattered and was important to who they are. And erasing their progress was wrong. FSN has a good handle on timeline stuff at the least, but CSM doesnt.It is very unsatisfying. Especially as the state of the Prophecy is ambigious. Even if the Prophecy wont happen, New Denji is still a child soldier and isnt getting the help he deserves as a child. If the new timeline at least put a step forward in protecting a literal child, I'd be a little satisfied. But instead he is still hunting Devils in Public Safety, the highest casaulty-rate job as they take on the strongest of Devils that the Private Sector wont fight.All in all, Chainsaw Man Part 1 is a 10/10. Part 2 is a solid 3/10. Worse than your average story, but has enough highs to justify not being bottom barrel.
