If the seat is removed or destroyed, then the soul can't interface with its body anymore and it just gets stuck (which is made even worse because the body will destroy itself looking for the missing seat inside it).Replaced can fill in where the soul used to be because they clearly don't need to maintain the underlying spiritual (or even physical - that big head Replaced leader definitely fucked up whatever the host body used to be) infrastructure at all. It's all just meat to them. In fact, I'd say it's unclear if a body stolen by the Replaced would have the same reaction as a body that's had its seat removed in the event said Replaced was ripped out of it, given that the Replaced almost certainly destroy the original soul and alter the body to their liking. Dorothy's might, since she still keeps the original soul nearby, but for the rest I'd wager that their stolen bodies would just collapse like puppets with their strings cut.
