The designs of the main cast were provided by Rumiko Takahashi. I have not watched the anime. The manga adaptation was made after the first season and was written and drawn by Takashi Shiina, the creator of Ghost Sweeper Mikami and most likely the biggest Rumiko Takahashi fan in the world. As such, I decided to read and story time this series as well. So meta-wise, the disappearance of the Tree of Ages is a substitute for Akuru. I assumed that since all of the wikis and whatnot focus on the anime, there wouldn't be much of a scene for the manga but I'm glad I was wrong. Seems like pixiv fanart is mainly based on the anime though, but it is hard to tell. Also, quality fanart is obviously still hard to find.
