Maybe another volume or two would've been nice (some things were too brief like Hiwatari's "fight", Kazuki never really goes Victor mode that much, Moonface could've easily been a recurring antagonist for Bravo w/ the backstory they were building) but it never overstays its welcome. Considering how monster of the week it was in the first half, maybe that was for the best.

>>288908940Pretty much the only part of Tokyo Ghoul:RE that I loved was Kaneki and Touka properly getting together quite a bit before the end. Beyond the wonderful fujofag meltdown it caused, it was just a very nice chapter and was also humanising for Kaneki, who at that point was going through a lot of shit. Shounen as it has developed is weird because it is inherently romanticist, they are about the pursuit of your dreams, about the power of the human spirit, about the importance of passion. Despite that, so many authors shy away from having romance as if its the plague. Yeah romanticism=/=romance, but they are related and you'd think that a demographic like shounen would respond well to these types of pure romances, but authors seem to be scared that they'll fall into the pitfalls of romance serials were theres constant missunderstandings and bullshit. You dont really need those if you've got an actual plot though, which anything that isn't deliberately a shitty romance serial does.
