On the topic of relationships Mine and Tatsumi's felt inevitable back when Bulat died. Having the first two members of Night Raid die right in front of their eyes summoned the red string of fate.
This volume is the last time I genuinely enjoyed Akame ga Kill, next ones aren't bad, but they followed the anime route too much and overall felt like an extended version of the last two episodes, so nothing too surprising overall. I think the two biggest plot twists at the end are the Minister being a badass and not just a mere corrupt ruler and Tatsumi surviving as a dragon.

You not only had a fight of sisters but a fight of interest. Kurome represented loss cause fallacy and abandonment issues: she wanted to honor her dead friends even if the empire is shit, and losing them + her sister made her develop a fucked up sense of love with her puppets. Akame however, stood for what she believed in at the cost of "betraying" her friends. She represents the pursuit of conviction through hostility.But despite that, both sisters never really wanted to off each other.In the end, both ended up winning in their own way. Kurome accepted to let go and got a chad boyfriend that's here to care about her. And Akame finally got to stand her ground through the end and she finally got kurome to stop her bullshit. But most importantly they reconciled and didn't had to kill the other. When Akame falls in tears you can see how much all of this was actually stressing her out. Very heartwarming moment ngl.Shit I'm half asleep on insomnia idk if I'm explaining this well but it should make sense to anyone who read zero and i just meant to say despite all the edge and shit this part is legitimately great and touching.
