OoT Link and Zelda manage to have much better chemistry despite not even being able to move their mouths because they're childhood friends who try to save the world but their naivety in trying to fight Ganondorf dooms the world. And the two have to work together to put things right, this is done over the course of an entire game, not solely in a single boss fight like in TOTK. There are consequences with trying to create a minimalist story.

Honestly, now that we're a bit past the halfway point, I gotta say: I don't think this manga is actually all that good of an adaptation of Twilight PrincessThe game thrives on a lot of strange mysteries and lingering myths and legends, and the way the manga is executed kinda sucks the energy out of that. The pacing does a lot for starters (and this goes beyond the simple fact of too little of the dungeons, because part of it is the dungeons being full of more connections and allusions), but then you get a lot of chapters like this where it's like>oh so the game alluded to OoT and implies the skull kids still live and remembers Link from ages ago>let's just make it explicitLike I get it's harder to be subtle when you can't exactly play Saria's Song for the reader, but this goes a little too farAnd the main advocacy for it is the expansion on the characters, but so far, that hasn't necessarily been the case either. So far, the only one that's really gotten more that builds on his existing self is Shad. The others have mostly gotten just the same amount of time and attention they had in the game, and some have actually gotten less or were changed for arguably the worse. Small characters like Ook lose their important moments, and Bulblin is no longer a mysterious bandit from wastelands unknown, fighting for his own reasons and not divulging them until he comes to respect Link and succumbs in their fightsEven moments like Midna and Zelda being friends is kinda iffy, since it doesn't build off anything in Twilight Princess and you can make the case that it takes away from TP Zelda being a far more royal incarnation. She doesn't do it in any part because she's friends with Midna. She does it because she'll sacrifice anything for her kingdom, sees her and Link as the best hope, and recognizes Midna's station as the Twilight PrincessI mean, on its own, the manga is fine, but if you're a fan of the game, what's carrying this hard is getting more of Midna

Her imprisonment is less like a captured princess and more like a subjugated queen.It's then fitting that, when she passes on her power to Midna, it's because she recognizes that she is the Princess of Twilight, what she's doing despite the mistreatment of her realm, how she as the Princess of Hyrule must bear the responsibility for how their use of the Mirror has caused the situation. It also means that Midna wanting to do the last she bit she could to help Link, save the Light Realm, and trying to reject Zelda's sacrifice to save her comes entirely from how her journey with Link has healed her heart and showed her that the Light Realm is worth saving regardless.Making them friends in the manga? The moment has no buildup, no connection. It comes out of absolutely nowhere and has no other bearing on the story. It has the all the substance and weaving into the story as a fan theory, and just serves to actually take away from the moment. Is Zelda exemplifying how she's taken charge of her station, and serves Hyrule as its royalty, even in its darkest hour? Is Midna showing how she's grown and healed through her time in the Light Realm and spent with Link? Nah, let's suddenly make it a bit more about this hitherto unmentioned and irrelevant friendship between them.It's like trying to tether the betrayal and hurt but ultimate familiarity between Light and Twilight as something more personal that kids could understand, and yet the game for kids didn't do that

I'd say really just start with whichever game has the most attractive premise. OoT, MM and TP have currently decomp ports on PC so you can avoid old technological limitations as well.
