>>290064252I'm excited to finally find out where this dogshit opinion comes from. How is the abandoned building better?
>>290064327 I mean its not that bad, but the villain sucks and is lame. Hus death was a really lame last mintue character assassination. The real issue though is the retarded "twist" that is litteraly impossible si fi nonsense. No other arc has a sci fi magic twist so it stands out so much more
>>290064327>>290064252NTA but Hangman is one of the worst but I'm not sure it's strictly the worst. The one preceding this one and Kaji's parents are pretty bad both but it's not so much a quality thing or the style of the game, but rather I think the Toshio didn't properly understand the stakes or what works for Usogui in terms of pacing, so we get a sizeable arc with not much going on that serves as nothing but leadup introducing new characters and then a cliffhanger that basically goes "Baku failed, but actually not really, but actually, but actually not really" To be fair, I do think it's still a good arc as are the others I talk about, but while Abandoned Building had mystery, grit, and stakes that were well balanced between action and gambling, Hangman kind of has two separate gambles going on at the same time which are both connected and independent of each other, and the splitting up the time between the two does nothing here. Compare that to Air Poker, which also has two games going on at the same time except they're both related and the focus isn't split between Air Poker and Iron Maiden Poker Fair warning for sizeable spoilers.
>>290064426foreshadowing for it has already begun however. My issue isn't the level of technology it's leader gassing him up when Kengan absolutely should have already found out about his tricks. At least we can both agree that things just keep getting better after this.
>>290064426 I can also get down with this idea, the guy had very little buildup and wasn't really connected to a big time antagonist or Usogui's plan, while also being kind of an annoying asshole. Yeah the turn around that he's basically larping and pretending to be in control is interesting but I think ultimately it's a nothingburger that's just there for the very memed on Usogui enters a gamble to bait someone into a gamble style of plot progress
>>290064508"I" called Kakerou "Kengan"I also keep wanting to write KagerouMy brain can't handle these similiar names.

>>290064109He started going to a martial arts gym and getting /fit/ during Usogui's run, we'll see the omake later.
I like the upcoming arc now, but there's many plotlines you won't fully understand until later, so to be fair I don't know how it can not be confusing on a first read.
>>290064252Hangman sucks but I actually like the Marco/Leo/Kyara fight.
>>290058738So,Is it Hal?
I like the contrast between how Toshio and FKMT write their characters during big brain games. If Morita were in one of these games, he would reveal at the end that he had a come up with a plan B (and C through Z) beforehand in case his failed at first

>>290066596Usogui and Nowami aren't doing waku waku stuff actually, Nowami is responsible for cultivating new referees and also a bit of a sadist, Baku's trying to play off of Nowami's public mask to fool him into thinking Baku just wants a suicide gamble again where he's really just trying to play the leader (again) So they're basically both using waku waku as a deception against the other

>>290084860>Is this actually in the manga or something the translator slapped on?It's a joke that happens 2-3 times in the first couple volumes, one of the gunmen in the abandoned building did it too. It is in the raw but doesn't show up after that, propably just a new mangaka experimenting with what types of jokes work.

>>290081018>Maybe Baku-san is using me...>... That means he needs me and I can't leave his side!Kaji is delusional
>>290064993Morita gets shit on by his associates for going through with the sky high poker bluff because he doesn't have any outs if the main plan fails. This actually serves as a build up for Seikyo mahjong where Ginji abuses Morita's single-minded recklessness to set up his winning condition. That is to say, Morita really isn't the best example lol.
>>290081291Light Yagami didn't die, he escaped and became a kakerou referee

for laters arcs is there any game i should learn beforehand so i don't end up in a kaiji part 3 situation?
>>290086013Every game is fully explainer before it begins, just remember to pay close attention to small details.
>>290086013No, thinking through it, I can't think of anything that requires prior reading. A couple of games later on are Japanese schoolyard games that obviously you won't know, but their rules are thoroughly explained beforehand. There's also Battleship but everyone knows that one.

>>290087488"Spoilers" are on the move...You forgot to mention that we actually see the MC of Batuque later, implying that it's actually a prequel to Usogui.
>>290083897You can tell the art is still kind of rough, this panel sort of disappears around the time of Karma
>>290087884I like to headcanon that Batuque and Genikasuri happen in the same verse as Usogui
>>290087993Genikasuri is still too early to rule either way.
>>290088105I wish it updated faster
>>290087993KY declaration guy is in Genikasuri and it's implied to be a sequel as he has made a comeback to TV. Also there was an unconfirmed yakou lookalikeOther than the few wasted chapters on the bare knuckle guy it's been good, I like it more than Batuque.
>>290088561Batuque was nice but it felt directionless, unlike Genikasuri. Helps knowing most of the cast in advance like with Usogui

I like death games and all in manga but does it even make sense to let the main character participate in them when it‘s obvious that the author isn’t going to kill him. I mean the manga is even named after his

>>290091326Baku being an insane adrenaline junkie is absolutely central to his character and the gambles being ones where his life is one the line is important for establishing that even if we as the audience know that realistically there's no chance of him actually dying.

I don't know if you will see this OP but when we get the double spread covers I hope you can stitch them. I love when authors do those
Who's the biggest liar?Baku or the MC from Tomodachi game?
>>290091326Being named after the story isn't always a guarantee that the eponymous character will succeed>The Asura loses the Kengan Annihilation Tournament

Thank you OP. I was reading the last Usogui story time in the archives since there was no recent ones. Will be tuning in here.
>>290081554I believe there are ways to rig it. I vaguely remember Usogui doing something like that but I might be wrong here
>>290082891Thanks a lot OP
>>290091326I like the great gatsby and all but does it even make sense to write a tragedy about this guy when it's obvious the author isn't going to kill him? I mean, the book is even named after him.

>>290087993What is genikasuri? I haven’t heard of it yet
>>290098260Genikasuri is a manga by the same guy about organized boxing and more specifically on the management-side after the MC got stiffed and put in a 2 year coma from a bad fight. It's pretty good so far, just a bit slow. The fights have some good choreography and art, but it's more about the social element of the MC's push to bait rival gyms into bad positions.
>>290087993Yakou literally has a cameo in Genikasuri
>>290099676What? When? I read through it today for the first time and I didn't recognise Yakou. >>290098260Anon, I second the opinion of >>290099562.
Honestly what confused me most about this arc was Yakou’s twin and differentiating him
>>290099841>What? When?Chapter 27
>>290100137Is he balancing the bottle on his fingers?
Who's the weakest Usogui character that could defeat Rolon Donaire? I think Kadokura (forma sano) could high diff him.
>>290100137>Master BaristaAnon, that's clearly NOT Yakou he's talking about.
I love gambling(fictional)
>>290101693>(fictional)*unwraps kariume*(You)...are a big liar
>>290101356His thumb would be in the indent that wine bottles have
>>290099562I always liked the cerebral thriller elements of usogui more then the fighting, and I don’t think that this would do it for me (and I don’t consider a drama where people think through their actions to have the substance I seek. I need rules and logically sound plans)It’s sort of sad that this author focuses on the fighting so much, but it looks like other people are having fun, so I really can’t complain
>>290102011It's cerebral too, just in a different way with the hijinks around the ring.Similar to how Usogui is a battle manga with gambling or a gambling manga with battling, you can really flip it either way if you want.
>>290102011>>290102043It's very cerebral, I'd say in certain elements it's more cerebral than Usogui. There are actual fights, yes, and a big part of the manga IS the fighting, but the work the MC undertakes to set up the fight and even more swing public favor while also working in the background as the underdog is legitimately quite cerebral. It's bi-weekly and a bit slow to update though, so I don't expect we'll get an escalation to the big shit the same way we did for Usogui for quite a while. I'll admit I understand and share the sentiment but I still say you should check it out. It's only 38-ish chapters at the moment, very doable.
>>290102043>Usogui is a battle manga with gambling or a gambling manga with battling, you can really flip it either way if you wantUsogui... This is a story about breaking a curse (unironically).
>>290102495Usogui is about the friends we made along the way.
>>290102495What would "Usogui"'s stand be? [The Man Who Sold the World]? It'd be kino
>>290102563He does have a sort of Bowieish je ne sais quoi, doesn't he.
>>290102490Genikasuri has fun schemes especially in the Oga fight but it's mostly a drama imo... chapter 37 hits so hard with visual storytelling.>>290102642A high CHA stat as as we'll.see.>>290102563[3's And 7's] https://youtu.be/BgVfjXA_QY0?is=Uf3wRn9ezljIruNm
>>290102043>>290102490I understand that the characters will be using their wits to gain competitive advantages against eachother, but things like that are too broad and too fleshy for meIt isn’t as compelling when there are no rules and no match boundaries. It needs to be about construction under heavy constraints for the problem to feel distinctly solvable, and the problem needs to be solvable for the solution to satisfy meI may check it out, but I don’t think it will workI should write something
>>290102495
>>290100137Oh, yeah! That scene. I thought that was just a Yakou look-alike, because what would Yakou be doing here of all places? Besides, he doesn't have Yakou's curly eyebrows.
>>290103033
>>290102887Heh, that's good. Genikasuri baiting you in with boxing to present to you a character drama about a guy SNUBBED so hard by the system he turns into a mini-mafioso is a pretty interesting twist
>>290102935That's fair, though I don't think the point of the fights IS the fight. It's hard to really put it into words but all of fights so far have basically boiled down to public humiliation rituals meant to bait more and more prestigious boxing gyms into fights, and the elaborate ways the characters go about it is part of the appeal. I do recommend you at least check out the first couple of chapters
>>290102983
>>290103036It's more of a visual gag/inside joke I think, that's definitely not Yakou.
